Equality

"All men ... are NOT created equal! Some are born swifter afoot, some with greater beauty, some are born into poverty and others born sick and feeble. Both in birth and upbringing, in sheer scope of ability every human is inherently different; Yes that is why people discriminate against one another, which is why there is struggle, competition and the unfaltering march of progress. Inequality is not wrong, equality is."

It's never gonna happen, unless everyone's turned into exactly the same lifeless beings. Hate to say it, but it's true.

I honestly think that while things like human rights should be equal, many other things SHOULDN'T be.

For instance, almost everyone studies the same things at school, but I think that's a really stupid idea. Some people are smarter than others of the age, others vice versa. Some excel at math, others at social studies. Instead of teaching everyone the same thing, I think they should teach people depending on their skills.

It matters on what subject of equality we're talking about.

Leave it to a non-American to say something brilliant about education.

In the words of one of my teachers: "Screw no child left behind. If he doesn't want to follow, he doesn't have to."

I would love to meet that teacher.

We humans, as a race and as a species are young. We have and will continue to make stupid mistakes. But the only way for us to grow as both a race and as a species is to learn that we may all look different and posses different capabilities, but we are all the same, we are human. As humans, we need to start working as a group or we will perish as a species and we won't have the ability to blame it on anything else but our stupidity.

So, instead of helping children develop a wider range of competences, we should just teach them what they show inherent aptitude for? If that's what you're defending, sounds terrible. :/

Perhaps I wrote it a bit confusing. No, I'm saying that while everyone should learn every subject, they should change teachers/the level of what they're taught, depending on that person's level. Right now, geniuses and idiots of the subject learn the same level. I'm saying that this should be changed.

Well, at my school, we have different level of classes: Remedial, Regular, Honors, Accelerated, and Advanced Placement. The higher the class, the more work is done and the faster the progress kids make through lessons and therefore, they learn more material.
I was under the impression that at least some schools had this system, but guess not :/

I see what you mean, and I totally agree. I still think that children should all get the same opportunities though.

But yeah, apparently a lot of schools don't have this system.

It's not just the separation of levels that needs to happen, it's giving the kids the grades they deserve. My freshman year in high school, non upper level classes were not allowed to give a grade below a 50 so that kids had an "easier time" adjusting and fixing their grade. I can tell you, once they got to college I'm pretty sure they got a wake up call in the form of a textbook being thrown at their head.

Hell, someone in my government class only passed because the teacher allowed him to make up for past work that he ignored because he thought government and economics averaged together to make one grade, which was stupidity to begin with. He shouldn't have gotten the second chance imo.
