ok thanks for the tips you guys. my dad suggested that military school will straighten me out, but it sounds so hard. it would be so much easier if there was some kind of pill to fix this

What the f*ck does this have to do with anything...

And I would like to say that Barbera Streisand sucks and you all suck for liking her! 8D

No, really. Just because you found Streissand on your 'pod doesn't mean you caught the 'gay'. It just makes you... unlucky, like seeing a black cat.

i just wish it was that simple but i have three younger sibling, i cant afford to be a homosexual

Izaya gone fishing.

Also, while I wholeheartedly disagree that Streisand turns you gay, you'll believe in what you'll believe in. I'll leave it at that.

Wow as if I didn't see this coming. Another offended person. Seriously? Why must you complain at ones opinion? You know that liking Barbera Streisand does not make one gay so why call out a man with a differing opinion? Why can't you just ignore him. He has a right to an opinion on gay people and if you don't like it, leave.
Well, you see, people tend to get offended when their sexuality and/or the sexuality of their loved ones. It's not a differing opinion, it's a moronic homophobic statement. Music CAN'T make someone homosexual. Art CAN'T make someone homosexual. The only thing that can make someone homosexual is homosexuality. Saying something one enjoys makes them gay (which, as you know, means either happy or homosexual), is basically the same thing as saying someone's manly because they watch football. Hell, homosexuals watch football! Your interests, musical taste, and hobbies don't define your personality or sexuality. Who you are defines those things.

Now stop being a closed-minded homophobic a******. I'm an LGBT supporter, I'm for rights of all humans (unless, of course, that right directly offends or injures another), and you can go f*** yourself.

I can't believe this thread was taken this seriously.

I think it was more of a random stab at Barbara Streisand than a homophobic rant.

Jeez.

The injured part goes without speaking, but offends? Really? I could say I'm offended by gay people's existence, thus creating an infinite paradox of stupidity.

Because cussing at a girl makes you sound like some sort of bada** to yourself.

And one's sexuality is partially determined by genetics, making up from 20% to possibly 70%. Environment is also a factor.
Nature and nurture, as it's often called.
But there are so many other factors involved as well.

Could we get a lock on this thread before anything else gets more out of hand?

There is literally no evidence to back this up, and it's a very flimsy and entirely unrelated argument. I didn't 'cuss' to seem like a badass, I 'cussed' because I 'cussed.' Her gender has nothing to do with the topic at hand.

Also relatively unrelated. Yes, it's determined for the most part genetics. But it's not like someone listens to Barbera Streisand in the car with their mother and comes out a homosexual.

Could we get a lock on this thread before anything else gets more out of hand?
I wouldn't say caring about what others say about the sexuality of your friends and loved ones is it 'getting out of hand.'

I wouldn't say caring about the sexuality of your loved ones is getting out of hand either.

But cussing someone out, intentional or not, kinda is.

I don't take things lightly. Meh. I guess it's a problem. But it doesn't mean I should let people go on being blatant homophobics.

I'll just leave this here:

Jokes can be meant to offend. Jokes easily get out of hand more than serious comments.

Then it's not a joke.

Well, let's stay on the topic of homosexuality.
Remember that guy that killed himself after a video was released of him with a sexual partner? I doubt the person that released that video did it thinking "Oh! Oh! I bet he'll kill himself!" He most likely went into it thinking, "Oh, it's no big deal, he'll get over it. We'll all laugh about it."
Then he killed himself.

Honestly, if a joke offends someone, it's still a joke. It's just a joke that offends someone.

There's no point in being offensive. Of the people to resort to such immaturity, I'm surprised it was you.

Whether or not she is homophobic is absolutely irrelevant to how you should treat her. She can be as she wishes without needing your disgusting vision of social liberty. If you're attacking her or trying to change her for what you believe is wrong, everybody should be capable of being critical to you. It may be misworded; I'm sure you still understand.

It really is because "who cares?," in terms of why her possible homophobia should mean anything.

I don't mind any people regardless of sexual orientation. Being against it is like being against people with brown eyes. They can't control it because it is genetic. They can hide it with colored contacts, but they're essentially original.

'tis a touchy subject with me. I'm personally not homosexual, but I've had a few friends that really suffered because they were.

If you're attacking her or trying to change her for what you believe is wrong, everybody should be capable of being critical to you. It may be misworded; I'm sure you still understand.
Now, should I treat her this way because it's the way I should treat her, or because she's a girl? Now, I'm not the kind of guy who will spend his 40s drunk and beating his wife, but I think women should be treated similarly. Sure, people can be critical of me for 'attacking' (if it's really even worth being called that) her, but not for defending sexual orientation.

It really is because "who cares?," in terms of why her possible homophobia should mean anything.
I care. Homophobia is horrible. Sure, others may think differently, but it's like racism. People shouldn't be ostracized or have their rights taken because of who they are.

I don't mind any people regardless of sexual orientation. Being against it is like being against people with brown eyes. They can't control it because it is genetic. They can hide it with colored contacts, but they're essentially original.
This is basically my point. Homosexuals can't HELP being homosexual. They shouldn't be treated differently because of it.

Hmm. A mistake on my part.
But regardless, that's one of many situations. There are kids who kill themselves all of the time because of what started off as a simple 'joke.'

So what are you arguing then? Everything that can even remotely be conceived as offensive be banned from being talked about on YCM? That leaves us with... what now? Mister Rogers (because everyone likes Mr. Rogers) and Portal 2 (because everyone likes Portal 2) as the only topics we're allowed to talk about?

I'm saying not to be blatantly disrespectful to someone for something they can't help. If you go and hate on a person for liking a video game or something, whatever. I'm not saying that's okay, but it's acceptable. If you hate on someone (we'll use Hinagiku's example) for having brown eyes, how the hell are they supposed to change that.
