Tentacruel
I live in a town where almost everyone is rich (I myself being middle class) and everyone complains about paying taxes. Best thing I've heard since I started living here, "If we take money from the rich and less from the poor, we'd be a communism." ....>.>
We would be. And it would be awesome. Great Unclean One: VK
Inb4peoplesaySovietUnionanddon'tknowjackshitaboutit Sure the Soviet Union kicked more ass, pulled a steel industry out of no where, gave equal rights to women much more rights earlier then the U.S., BUT THEIR COMMUNISTS! Then again, Stalin. Then again, Stalin knew true Communism was impossible and instead decided to kill millions of people in order to keep the country together and make everyone work to become a superpower. Because Stalin knew that fear was a powerful motivator. Though, I say we become Socialist like Finland. Then again, this is the United States and we hate anything that isn't part of our Capitalist paradise. No seriously, my old Government Studies teacher says that all Socialist countries like Finland and Sweden are a horrible place to live and I called bullshit on that. Clair
get money get paid! I quite appreciate minimum wage. I'm also thankful that only "some people" think it shouldn't exist.
Tentacruel
Mathematically, there are reasons why it shouldn't exist. But when you think about it from the perspective of someone working for minimum wage...
Ярополк Пономарёв
Here's what I would do (take note that I'm not the best at Politics): Make Sales Tax higher for people who make more money per year.
Greiga
Should be brought up to $10/hr. it makes a huge difference, plus since more people would have more money to buy stuff it would help our economy. I'm a total retard when it comes to this stuff, correct me if I'm wrong anywhere.
If employers have to pay more for wages then they will likely cut jobs and/or raise the prices of their products. It's a fine line one must walk. Tentacruel
And if they lowered it, they would still increase prices and would really cut down on employee salaries. Getting rid of minimum wage wouldn't help poor people at all, unless you consider making $2 an hour a way of life, not to mention existing salaries would be lowered. I mean, I remember these things called labor unions. You guys seem to be under the impression that people would just let employers go down to crap wages. I don't think any human in their right mind would let their employer lower their wage to $2/hour job nowadays, and I'd be fine with a $5/hour job because I need a job. Tentacruel
No minimum wage would work if corporate America didn't have such a grip on the economy, but they do, so we can't just lower it. There's no reason you would need to pay someone less than the current minimum wage anyway.
Thar
What's funny is that both topics ending with you, Tentacruel, are 35 posts excluding this one. Avoiding a tangent here, minimum wage is decent as long as you get at least 20 hours a week. Otherwise, it's basically just allowance. But since I don't get allowance anymore, it suffices. However, income tax is where they strike the nail. Yes, it pays for services and such, but it just drains out our life earnings. What I want to know is if working in the service requires an income tax. If it does, that be so f*cking ironic.
