anyways, to the card.

Normal Spell

Lore:
Roll a six-sided die once. If the result is 1,2,3,4 or 5, the levels of all monsters you control become equal to the result until your End Phase. If the result is 6, you can declare any level (max 12) and all monsters you control become the declared level until your End Phase .

Well, in most cases this won't do anything for you, since usually you would need a specific level to do anything, giving you a 30% chance for it to work in your favor.

If you have a Xyz monster in your your Extra Deck of each level from 1-5, then this has a 100% of succeeding for you.

So the downside to using this card is?

There are so many ways you can easily put any three weak monsters on the field in 1 turn, then you can play this and can potentially turn the three level 1-3 monsters into Gustaph Max, Volcasaurus, Hope, Big Eye, Exabeetle, Lucky Stripe, HMK, Black Mist if you were unlucky. After all the only downside is the 1 in 6 chance that the only thing you might be able to get out of it is Baby Tragon, but compared to odds of being able to access any of the above and more?

Really silly card IMO.

Why does nobody get that gamble cards are supposed to have downsides for busting as part of their nature?

a lot of gamble cards don't have downsides. Just a few examples: Graceful and Skull Dice.

Also, it's a gamble. Unless you've decided to sacrifice 5-10 of your 15 free slots in your Extra Deck exclusively for this card, you're not sure about getting any Xyz out, because hardly any deck can make each and every 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,10 Rank Xyz Monster to justify you adding 9 Xyz monsters in your Extra Deck only because of 1 single card.

Graceful and Skull Dice barely have upsides to begin with.

And you don't need every level from 6-10 covered since you can pick and choose should you role a six. You only really need Big Eye and Gustaph.

All you need are those 2 if not just 1, Volca, Hope, Black Mist, Levair and something like Roach or Chain, which most decks seem to run at the minute anyway, and you're covered for any result except 1. Even if you roll that you probably had 2 Level 1's and a three out anyway.

Also we don't need to just talk Xyz here. Since Grow Up, Plaguespreader and Birdman could well be your summoned monsters, making Brionac, Trishula or any other generic Synchro could be just as easy.

the chance of rolling a 6 is 1/6 or less than 17 % which is fair enough.
The downside of it is, as it is with a lot/all of gamble cards, that you have no control over the result. When you Xyz, you Xyz whatever you NEED. With this, you will (in most cases) Xyz whatever you CAN. There is a BIG difference, since it's not guaranteed to help you at all. Also, if you have 3+ monsters on the field, the chance of ALREADY being able to Xyz Summon is very very high, since in most cases at least 2 of those monsters would be of the same level.

You never leave things to chance in competitive play, and this is all about chance. And if it doesn't hurt the meta/ competitive play, then there's nothing wrong with it.

But maybe I could nerf it by giving it this: "if you activate this card, no monsters you control can be used as Synchro Materials. If you activate this card, you must Xyz Summon this turn. If you don't, during your End Phase, take 1000 damage for each monster you control." or something like that
