Deadliest Warrior - Yugioh TCG Version

Recommended Posts

For those who have watched Deadliest Warrior, this thread is going to be somewhat of the same thing.

Alright. This thread is going to be dedicated mainly to the matching up of certain decks and seeing if there is an advantage/disadvantage, strengths/weaknesses, X factors, etc between two decks. I hope that this will be a weekly thing, as in there will be X deck vs. X deck discussion for 7 days.

All Rules in this section apply. Please be constructive, creative etc.

After a week has passed, the topic will go onto another X deck vs. X deck discussion. As for X deck vs. X deck discussions, members are allowed to give me deck match ups that they want to discuss via PM. DO NOT POST THOSE HERE! Discussions "topics" will be put on hold in this main post.

So...how about we get discussing?

Gishki's have boss monsters that are actually worth running. They have consistent recycle engines in Mirror, Salvage, Avarice, ect. They can play offense well while mantaining a good field presence and locking down your opponent's strategies.

Laval's have Rekindling and Laval Lady, Tender of the Volcano. That's pretty much it. They can't mantain Field advantage, they don't have any outstanding monsters besides Chain. They take forever to set up. They're more trouble than they're worth.

so wait, you all think Gishki are Better than laval. Then tell me what I'm doing wrong!!! I've constructed, what I think, is a beast gishki deck, but every time I go against lavals, that red nova dragon combo always gets me and *cuts* Dead... so Gishki as an Idea should be stronger than Laval, but with the right Combos, in my opinion, Laval is stronger than Gishki. The main issue is the combos Laval can pull out vs. the Gishki Combos. Laval can summon Red Nova Dragon pretty easily and once its on the field, its tough to get rid of!

And Gishkis can eat your hand so you can't even pull out that RND

OT: Gishki are the better decktype from a theory-oh perspective because the deck not only has some decent recycle power itself, but its main components are also targets themselves for the WATER Attribute's prime recycling engines.

Honestly, I've never actually played Lavals enough to know their strengths, but ONE of Gishki's strengths is above.

Gishkis. Without a doubt.

[/thread]

Oh wait, that's already been done.

I suppose I have to elaborate on my opinion then......urggh....

Gishkis are better because they can keep recycling their boss monsters if they are ever sent to the Graveyard, and the only way to stop the cycle is to Banish the Ritual Spell Cards or the Ritual Boss Monsters. And when that happens, Gishki players are usually sent into a panic (mostly me, because I play YGO Online, which requires something green paper stuff called money which you all probably don't have) because they also don't have the proper Siding Materials to recover them from the Banished Zone. Also, Gishkis have good support: Salvage, Technique of the Ceremonial Water Mirror, Moray of Greed, and Forbidden Arts, among others.

Lavals don't have as much field presence, which rely strictly on the Graveyard. If you can find a way to shut down plays in the Graveyard (which is ridiculously easy with Necrovalley), then Lavals will be shut down entirely. Laval's best support comes from cards such as Foolish Burial, that one Magic Card that allows you to mill 2 Laval Monsters, Blazing Dust Explosion (which is bad), and Rekindling. However, the best use from Lavals is usually going Laval200, while Gishkis can stand as their own Archetype, albeit with some support from Manju/Senju/Sonic Bird.

Gishkis. Win. [/thread]

Kenta's right Dante. Manju/Senju/Sonic isn't needed because they are all too slow and outclassed by Abyss. Preparation of Rites is one of the better spells because it increases the speed at which you Ritual Summon. Technique is outclassed by Salvage by an extreme amount, Moray of Greed doesn't do well, and Forbidden Arts just slows down Gishkis, but could possibly be used as a side-tech.

Though, Gishki's weaknesses are:

1) Rely heavily on Spells

2) Banishing their cards stops their recycling prowess that they are known for

3) Can be very susceptible to a bad start if they do not draw into a Ritual Monster AND a Ritual Spell.
