Guest Izaya Orihara
Did you know that n****r means ignorant and not colored? Just like how the swastika was a buddhist symbol, there's really nothing wrong with the word. People just assume it's bad because it was used horribly. This is the part where I mention I'm half black and half white.Actually the word n*gger used to be for poor white peasants because the rich felt they were the "Scum of the earth" then the word changed for absolutely no f*cking reason. Greiga
So if I say n****r in Britian I'll be arrested? Remind me to never go there with my yugioh friends. Also, you're telling me the white guys got mad and used the word on black people? Human nature sucks.

Yasu
Nothing of that has happened to me, but I have witnessed two cases of abuse as a kid. The first time I almost got dragged into the mess, I tried to help.It went wrong, very wrong; not only nobody believed me... but they said I was the one with the dirty mind. They pointed out that the fact that a fourth grader was making up stories like those was disturbing, and for some months the kids from the neighbourhood avoided me.The bastard moved away. (He's in jail now, I don't know the exact reason though)Everybody forgot about it. The second time, it was a more severe case.I kept my mouth shut and avoided the kids involved. This time everyone noticed, it was the latest gossip.Nobody did anything. They moved away. And once again, everybody forgot about it. Guest ~King Crouton~
@The topic in general: It's one of the most immoral crimes, disgusting, and against the law. Well, at least here concerning the latter. @The rape jokes discussion: There was an "angry reviewer" on youtube months ago named Retrogamer3 who decided it was a smart idea to start another review channel called "The Gaming Rapist." His character was a homeless rapist who would review old video games while inserting rape jokes and using phrases like "total rapeage" or something like that, and in his only video, there was a scene that implied that he took a woman into the closet to rape her. He got so much hate from his fanbase, he quickly closed down the channel, made another channel called "The Welfare Gamer", where he uploaded an edited version of his only Rapist video which cut out most of the rape jokes and the character was now a homeless guy on welfare. The only rape joke I've ever heard that were funny were from Special Victims Unit, and that was one that was well set up. The perp's lawyer walks up to Stabler saying that he wants to report a rape. Stabler jokingly responds "did your client touch you inappropriately?" Law and Order usually hits the mark with dark humor.

The swastika wasn't a Buddhist symbol either, it derived from the Buddhist symbol of peace and was tilted anticlockwise, essentially saying the exact opposite. John A. Zoidberg
"Oh rape's so funny and so many people make jokes about it so it's completely fine!""Oh the holocaust was a good cause and so many Jews were murdered so it's completely fine to kill Jews!" Don't pull that whole "rape's not as bad as the holocaust," s*** on me either. Humorous or not, jokes shouldn't be made about cases that could potentially cause people to live the rest of their lives in shame, and possibly even kill themselves if it gets to the point where they don't know what to do. You wouldn't go to a funeral and tell an insulting joke about a dead man to his widowed wife. Rape is generally the product of someone gaining your trust, isolating you from other people you trust, and raping you. It is more common for that to happen than for someone to pull you into a dark alleyway and have sex with you. It'll most often be someone you trust, your parents trust, etc. That's why it's so painful- you feel betrayed. That's why it's so difficult for people to tell, they think deep down it's bad, but in reality, they lie to themselves and pretend it's all okay. It's not okay. Imagine, Izaya, that you'd been raped. Would you want to walk around high school halls hearing rape jokes and being forced to remember what would probably have been one of the most painful time of your life? Aero~
Since when do the n word and rape have anything to do with each other -_- Personally, I think rape jokes are acceptable if they are not referring to it as if it is something that should be done, and if they are not used around a rape victim. Thats sick. Its like the time I went into a Black Baptist Church and accidentally told a racist joke. It was uncalled for and I deserved to be chased out. Guest .Rai
So what I've learnt from this topic so far: It's perfectly fine to joke about racism, rape, and other issues that people have spent ages to fight for and reduce that to a simple piece of disgusting humour. As long as you don't do it in front of someone it's relevant to. Take following statement: "Being gay is unnatural. Funny." Assuming that there are no gays reading this topic, this is a perfectly fine statement, am I right? And, yes, n****r comes from the O.L. niger, meaning black. Obviously. Get your facts right, YCM. How can something change between wrong or right depending on audience? That automatically is assuming that humans are unequal. Which is something that has been fought for against prejudice and racism. Which is also extremely ironic, considering the situation. Rape jokes are extremely offensive. The fact that something that basically changes a whole person's life can be talked about in such a horrible way is disgusting. It's equivalent of joking about suicide or similar.
