Ron Paul and Libertarianism

Basically discuss these two things.
1. The idea and political philosophy of Libertarianism.
2. The current Libertarian running for president known as Ron Paul who has gained wide spread internet attention and is considered the Intellectual God-Father of the Tea Party Movement[s] and is also a racist nutjob who needs to be put in a nursing home.[/s]

The obvious issue facing Libertarianism lies in that the pacification of the government empowers other groups that would through their influence become the government. Given that, consider that Rupert Murdoch's an avid Ron Paul supporter. Now consider an aftermath in which News Corp is the American government. Pretty ugly amirite? Moreover, a corporate government could potentially create an environment in which the rich could more easily exploit the not very rich thereby increasing poverty, thereby increasing desperation, thereby increasing crime, thereby increasing fear among the rich, thereby creating a pretty thoroughly f***ed up United States. What's more, given the structure of corporations, this potential would likely be realized.

He's an idiot, however, he's an idiot that may become the most powerful man in the world. He's a very dangerous idiot who thinks that extreme laissez-faire economics will solve everything. That was Herbert Hoover's idea, and it resulted in thousands of deaths, millions losing their life savings, jobs and homes and the destruction of the United States as the world's largest economy. Thankfully you had FDR to save your asses, but in these modern times he would probably be considered an "Un-American Dirty Liberal Bastard", despite the fact he saved your asses from anarchy.

tl;dr Ron Paul is a dangerous idiot with his mind stuck the 1920s and will turn back the clock to the 1930s if he reaches the White House.

Now, tell me, in FDR's 6 YEARS in office what did he accomplish?

Well, he DID increase exports 40%....only to have 91% tax to support all of the governments programs

FDR didn't save our asses, the war did

And FDR declared war while the Republicans and Herbert Hoover said no. His New Deal policy gave America enough hope to stall the depression from hitting rock bottom till WWII started. He knew WWII was going to start and he knew it would make the UNited States money but what he didn't know was that he would have to fight in the war. He just expected to stay neutral which was impossible given the circumstances.

Why did you cross that out. It is true.

Key word in bold. Yea, he made a lot all of which were made to help the people suffering from the Depression and to make sure it wouldn't happen again. Yes, the WWII did help things a great deal, but thanks to FDR the nation was already able to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Also, part of me wants to move this to debates. While it will more then likely be more fitting there, at the same time I know doing so will more or less kill the threads. Thoughts?

Of course Ron Paul is a racist, the media told me so.

The sad part is, a lot of people are serious about that.

Unless you can show me solid evidence of him being actually racist, I'm going to take his word for it.

In the video he acknowledges the newsletter. Don't you think if he knew about it he would have done something to get rid of the unsavory matrial?
Nope. According to the top Youtube response:
"Nice Try!! The Newsletter he's referring to in this 1995 C-Span Video is about Investments.Since he has discussed Monetary and Economic Policies for decades, of course he's know about that particular Newsletter!!!
In this video, he's not referencing the Newsletters the offensive ones!
Do you really think he would go on C-Span and promote racially charged materials?
Get Real......"

But the media told me he was racist, so it must be true.

I find political correctness ridiculous and I'm annoyed by media puppets, so in an indirect way I suppose. It's obvious that the corporations are pissed he's getting this far and actually building some momentum, so it's pretty funny to see them scramble and try to diminish him as he gains more and more votes.

And given that he wouldn't make a terrible president and the GOP always tends to throw out awful candidates I really don't care about him getting their nomination. Kind of looks like Obama is even preparing to debate him, with his words on shrinking government and protecting liberties, however empty they are.

You do realize that most of his policies would rather screw the US more than help it right?
