Because you're still getting a monster that gained the effect(s) and stats of all the monsters used to Summon it. And honestly, using Poly on 2 monsters you control will not lose you that much advantage.

Bring the effect back to the original (but keep the Polymerization only part). Personally, I dont see the reason for making it only 2 monsters (not 2 or more) when you have the poly only limit, unless you are worried about Chain Material idiocy. Up 2 u really. As it is, it is if anything UP'd. If it was 2 or more, then it would be OP'd with Chain Material in the right deck. :)
