evilfusion Posted February 9, 2012 Report Share Posted February 9, 2012 Goyo is too broken to come back. 2800 for a generic Level 6 Synchro is incredible, and it steals opposing monsters just by defeating them in battle. With Synchros and ESPECIALLY Xyz being a big part of a Duelist's strategy, providing nearly free Tribute, Synchro, and Xyz fodder with an absurdly easy to Summon 2800 body is too good. Brio may have the loops, but Goyo can turn a game around just as easily, and it has no real drawback to its effect. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

If it were going to happen, it's likely to happen now when Synchros have seen a (very slight) decrease in play. What might prevent that is Konami wanting to promote Xyz more, so re-introducing this guy isn't going to do much in terms of that. Then again, we've thought Brionac would be banned for two and a half years now and it's still here so I'll believe it when I see it. I tried to grab one of these online just incase it did come back, before the price increase, but it's still really expensive. I'm guessing that means people are preparing for a return. [/quote] I don't quite [i]want[/i] it back, as much as I just don't see how they can ban both Brio and this, because realistically, that makes Gravity Warrior the best Level 6, and leaves very few Level 6 options outside of that, which is one of the most common Synchro options. [/quote] Orient Dragon, Sirius the Blue Wolf Star, Gravity Warrior, and (to an extent) Gaia Knight are all viable options, imo. With only enough room to run 1 level 6 these should be enough. Almost all the cards that do steal monsters, temporarily or otherwise, are either banned or have enough restrictions/weaknesses that they're fine. Goyo is a generic Level 6 Synchro with 2800 ATK. It doesn't negate the effects of the stolen monster, keeps them as long as they're on the Field, has no restriction on how you can use them afterwards (Synchro, Tribute, Xyz, attack, etc), etc. There's just nothing fair about what it does, other than it Summons them in DEF. Orient Dragon I admit is one that I'm probably in the minority on, but I think it was overhyped and realistically, I don't think it's that good at all. I've never been in a situation where grabbing Orient will get me out of a situation that grabbing something else can't do more effectively. Gaia Knight is good, it runs over a lot, but still, it falls short of Hyperion/Grapha etc., some other boss monsters that you don't have much of a chance to take down otherwise. There's only 1 lvl 4 that's only an 1800 beater or +1000 Union monster and nobody seems to complain about that. Just because this and brio are the only banned lvl 6s doesn't mean all the others are crap.
