Monster Types and Consistencies

Recommended Posts

Not much to discuss on rules and play well, play actually is a major discussion of this topic. When Yugioh first came out I noticed some consistencies with monsters based on their Type. It still exists now, but the types are starting to blend together. Rock-Types for instance all usually had low ATKs and high def. Now it's common for them to have high atks, decent def, or even high atks and low def. Zombies haven't been given much new support so they remain the same in regards of stats. They're usually the opposite of old rocks with high atks and low def.

Most Zombies' effects usually involve the Graveyard in some way as well. Sometimes types are exclusive to an attribute like with Pyros they are mostly exclusive to FIRE. Do you like monster types to have stats, effects, and attributes common to them?

Me I like uniqueness among the card types. I think rocks should go back to focusing more on their defense and provide more support for canyon burn.

So...you want us to list vague properties for certain types, like "Dinosaurs have high attack" and "Psychics require you to pay LP"?

No

I think OP meant how supported each type gets, which and how, with that support and concept, each type impacts the meta.

yes

Thread is obviously about the flavor and type Identity in Yugimonz

yes

Also lol at that two mouthed creature. I suppose they accidentally listed it as a dragon type the first time around and reprinted it as Dinosaur, even though going by the card's description it should be a Thunder-Type with LIGHT attribute. Regarding monster types and their identities most of the ones that aren't dark or light don't have much support for their attribute. If you're running zombies, fiends, or spellcasters, you'll likely be using some DARK support considering those monsters tend to be associated with that Attribute. Well, spellcasters have the most variance of attribute out of those 3.
