FindingTheEverlight
And I don't doubt any word of that quote. Tyranny last only tormental seconds.
ragnarok1945
I haven't for years. This is why I wish the public would get the message that once you elect a president, it's actually not THAT easy to knock him off the chair
FindingTheEverlight
Exactly and it's not like you can easily impeach someone anyway (if that's what you're aiming at), and remember, as I said before, the general population is too ignorant to realize any of this because they are all about who's going to look best in the oval office. ragnarok1945
I still don't understand why the people rally behind the candidates after all these years, haven't they realized by now that whatever the candidates promise isn't what's going to happen? FindingTheEverlight
Lies behind eyes. Nowadays, whether you're a republican or a democrat, it doesn't matter, they all do the same exact thing and lead the "followers" to believe whatever they want to in order to get some higher amount of power. Brainwashing basically.
ragnarok1945
I mean even if by some miracle the candidate IS sincere about his actions, there's more than enough bearucratic red tape crap to overcome still
FindingTheEverlight
If there was a sincere candidate that wasn't swayed to be congress' b*tch, chances are he'll be out-ran and gone. Congress doesn't want anyone who wont be their puppet, that'll never happen.
ragnarok1945
this is why the whole of Congress needs to be replaced
FindingTheEverlight
Not only that, it just needs to have more people that fully believe in the constitution and actually know it. We need a congress that knows the constitution well enough to know stuff like SOPA and PIPA are completely irrational and unconstitutional. I find the congress to be extremely ignorant of the constitution if they thing they can pass such things that limit our rights as human beings.
ragnarok1945
yeah that's the one thing on there because what happens is there's a clause in the constitution that says just because it's not written as a right doesn't mean it doesn't exist Right now, they're doing it the other way by saying "Just because it's not a WRITTEN law doesn't mean it doesn't exist"
FindingTheEverlight
Yeah, but they do have to realize that it conflicts with other ammendments making the clause somewhat invalid.
ragnarok1945
they're just abusing the power for that besides, if you had seen the film "The Majestic", you would have remembered a simple quote in there. "The Constitution and Bill of Rights are just pieces of paper with signatures on them. You know what a piece of paper with a signature is? It's a contract, which means it can be re-negotiated at any time."
FindingTheEverlight
I've seen the movie, don't remember the quote, but I agree with it. But even with that, it's basically a list of rights everyone should have and live by. Even today, people should realize that the whole constitution or the Bill of Rights was a way to escape persecution, and yet they fail to realize that we should still have all of these rights anyway, whether they change them or not. Sorry, I'm rambling a little bit, I'm getting kinda tired.
ragnarok1945
it's all right, I'm guessing you're on the US east coast, right? If that's the case, go hit the sack and we can continue this another time. The point is these things have their limits

ragnarok1945
very well but yeah that's the major problem with people today, they think there's no limit to what they can do. People today believe that they can only do things when either they trust themselves completely or someone of power has said something that they do not understand, so being clueless to have their own say. That is why people look for a good president. A president knows more about the issues involving our Country than most people and most issues nowadays are completely shut off from us, we rely on him to tell us these issues and to trust his. A president is good at manipulation because of such knowledge. And manipulation isn't always bad if you think about it.
