I raised this point with evilfusion in the Zexal sub thread whilst discussing how I can't take YGO villians, currently such as III and IV, seriously as villians when they have such terrible records when it comes to the big duels. And I used Yubel as an example on how an antagonist could and should come across by beating significant and powerful players (although to be fair, her victims had a lot longer to build themselves up to be defeated).

Just researched her, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Yubel does actually have one of the best major antagonist records. As Jesse she beat Zane, Adrian, forced one draw with Jaden, and then he couldn't actually beat her in the final showdown and only do... something. Her only official loss was when controlling Marcel against Jaden and Jesse (this is all going off the wiki, although I did catch the two wins on TV).

Has anyone got an advance on this? Like Konami... perhaps you can give a major villan a properly record that makes us somewhat actually scared of them and consider them an actual threat.

i completely agree, i liked Yubel as an antagonist, her personality and manipulation coupled with the fact that she safely held her own against some of the series' better players is commendable. Not to mention when she was possessing others she commanded some of the more 'Sacred' monsters (Exodia, the Sacred Beasts). I think when creating Antagonists, they should take a leaf out of Yubel's book.
To expand on this Yubel is a badass Antagonist, i also liked how she warped the main characters to an alternate dimension, it certainly provided a plot twist and provided a different element to the plot showing the turmoil in other dimensions other than Earth.

This is my point entirely.

IV as crazy as he talks and acts, has one win against two hopeless jobbers (which served a purpose and really developed his character, so I don't complain, but defeating Tetsuo and class rep doesn't make me really sit up and go 's*** this guy is serious'), and a loss to Kaito and Yuma. It looks likely his next match will be against Shark, and will probably result in another loss.

III: Three duels, three losses.

V: Going straight into battle against Kaito, and will almost certainly lose.

Tron: Hopefully, fingers crossed, will get a Marik-esque run in the finals. I'm hoping he'll actually win the whole thing and get to face Heartland/Faker.

The reason IV lost most of his battles was simple: He had to lose to advance the plot. If III and IV won, Haruto would die, and Kaito would probably commit suicide or something. With their best Numbers Hunter gone, Faker's plan would fail, and the World Duel Carival could even be stopped.

The reason for Yubel's win streak is the opposite of this. She didn't have to lose, because even if she kills a billion people through her winning duels, they'd come back alive at the end of the season. The only character she really killed was Amon Garam (who badly deserved it). Thus, it was possible for her to win almost all of her duels.

Except they could have won, Haruto would have 'died', thier plan goes into overdrive, Kaito would have gone on a bloody rampage after them, Faker has to come up with a Plan B after this disaster and get his own payback rather than just give up (since in the end I think he will be the bigger bad over Tron), and then at the right time Haruto actually turns out to be alive in a similar bullshit way that should never have graced GX. Simples, although it does screw over Neo Galaxy.

Tut, these kids shows. Death is a constant part of life, might as well tell them how it is rather than have them believe people just randomly come back to life.

I don't think Kaito would commit suicide over Haruto's death. Despair yes, madness yes, but fight for revenge, also hell yes.
