Let's make a good, non-OTK Ritual deck [The Synthetics]

DARKPLANT RISING

Recommended Posts

I got this idea from Page 2 of this thread, which is probably one of the most intelligent threads in the TCG section. The thread ends with Rodrigo's argument that "the mentality of the game changed from winning to prevent your opponent from winning". The strongest cards in this meta are those that can control and cripple your opponent. And I added something else: It should also be easy to summon from first turn without any fear of Dark Hole.

This is why Evolzars rule the tournaments. Most people think of Xyz when it comes to control. But I personally think that if you give Rituals consistency, it's possible for them to do that too.

Thus I made this set, the Synthetics. I played around with creative names for the support cards - tell me what you think.

Cannot be Ritual Summoned with the Ritual Spell Card, "Immortal Slumber". Once per turn: Negate the activation of an Effect. When this card is Summoned: Activate this effect (Your opponent cannot activate effects in response to this effect's activation). Your opponent cannot Set a card during his/her next turn. When this card destroyed a monster by battle: Randomly target 1 card in your opponent's hand; send it to the Graveyard. You can control only 1 face-up "The Synthetic" monster.

When this card is Ritual Summoned: Destroy all Spell/Trap Cards on the field (your opponent cannot activate effects in response to this effect's activation). When this card destroyed a monster by battle: Draw 1 card. You can control only 1 face-up "The Synthetic" monster.

This card can only be Ritual Summoned with the Ritual Spell Card, "Immortal Slumber". Once per turn: Negate the activation of an effect. When this card is Ritual Summoned: Target 2 cards in your opponent's Graveyard; Banish them (your opponent cannot activate effects in response to this effect's activation). When this card destroyed a monster by battle: Banish the destroyed monster. Then, this card can attack once again in a row. You can control only 1 face-up "The Synthetic" monster.

This card is used to Ritual Summon a "Synthetic" Ritual Monster. You must also Tribute Monsters from the field or your hand whose total Levels equal 10 or more. When this face-up card is sent from the field to the Graveyard: Draw 2 cards, and discard 1 card.

When you control no monsters, you can Normal Summon this card without Tributes. When this card is Summoned: Tribute this card; Add 1 "The Synthetic" Ritual Monster or "Immortal Slumber" in your deck to your hand.

When this card is Tributed for the Ritual Summon of a "The Synthetic" monster: Target 1 "The Synthetic" monster you control; Equip this card from your Graveyard, to the Target. Once per turn, negate the destruction of the Equip Target.

When this card is Tributed for the Ritual Summon of a "The Synthetic" monster: Draw 2 cards.

When this card is Tributed for the Ritual Summon of a "The Synthetic" monster: Add 1 Level 10 Monster or "Immortal Slumber" from your deck to your hand.

Yeah.

They revolve around consistently getting out a single Synthetic, using its effects to gain card advantage, and dominating the field using its gigantic presence. I suppose it's Control Beatdown - the same type of deck as DinoRabbit, the best deck of this format.

BTW, Recurring Nightmare is a must-have-3 in this deck.

That, and I tried to balance them out by giving them the SIN clause so they can't spam and win easily.

So many wonderful things can come out of this. Much like the Evolzars, while the bosses are pretty good, the strength comes from the support the bosses get. Just get rid of the advantage lost from a ritual summon in the spell itself? And then just outright + off it, topping it with searchers and all the other good stuff? the more I look at this thread, the more OK with this I am.

Also, Ritual Raven and Limit Reverse.

Also (I guess because Lvl10/0ATK/0DEF) these remind me of Temporal Machine Angels to some degree.

A recommendation: To better fit the name scheme, change to "The Gates of Guph". Just one word sticks out like a sore thumb.
