What's with all the dead members?

DARKPLANT RISING

Question

Recently, the number of online users has diminished. A lot.

I mean, right now there's only 10 members online. Until this week, that's never happened. At least 100, and usually around 150 - that was the YCM I knew.

Is this a simple server error? Or are some computers unable to reach here? Whatever the reason is, I feel something's wrong.

Yeah, problem was I started using a CDN service to cache files, but a lot of IPs were viewed by IP.Board as the same because of this, so the board started automatically banning people. Should be fixed now.
Well that solves everything now! Time to comb my hair.

OBJECTION!

Is there any proof that the newly registered users being banned in-mass are actually new users and not spambots? Judging by the IPs of the newly banned, it seems a lot of them are remarkably similar.

tl;dr - How do we know that YCM didn't used to have 120+ spambots, and 20 actually users?

Because a ton of non-spam bots are missing.

Huh. Maybe it you're right. But it seems a lot less active in places where spam bots never post anyway.

Like the status bar, it's way less active then usual. C&O seems dead, ect.
I'd like to point out that spam bots do post in the status bar, they are deleted just like other spam bot posts, but it does seem less active.

We believe YCMaker tried to install some sort of new anti-spambot filters or something. Unfortunately, since actual competence is too much to ask, the result is that people are now being autobanned at random - most visibly newly-registered users, but it may also be killing other users less obviously.

This is very possible. It could also be that people simply cannot reach the site. For a little while there, I kept getting an Error Page saying that the site was unavailable. It wasn't the usual one saying that YCM would be back online soon, but that the site is just unavailable.
Besides, look on the bright side. If people are getting banned, then we (the ones who haven't been banned) will be the veteran members who will be looked up upon and praised like gods by the next generation of YCMembers!
