trying out Clown Control

Recommended Posts

i'm back and seeing this on page 1 really makes my day :D

although you've got the basic idea, you've structured the deck wrong. basically, your opponent won't get an attack through because of Stumbling. so playing searchers
like Giant Rat won't work.

Crass Clown is ok, but he's nothing amazing.

here's a list i was working on for a while. Edited with new changes...

3 Dream Clown
3 Photon Saber Tiger
3 Tour Guide from the Underworld
3 Wind-Up Rabbit
2 Cardcar D
1 Sangan
-15-

3 Stumbling
2 Mystical Space Typhoon
2 Wave-Motion Cannon
1 Monster Reborn
1 Book of Moon
1 Dark Hole
1 Mind Control
-11-

2 Solemn Warning
2 Torrential Tribute
2 Bottomless Trap Hole
2 Starlight Road
2 Compulsory Evacuation Device
1 Solemn Judgment
1 Dark Bribe
1 Mirror Force
1 Dimensional Prison
-14-

Extra:

1 Wind-Up Carrier Zenmaity
1 Wind-Up Zenmaines
1 No.17 Leviathan Dragon
1 Muzurythym the String Djinn
1 Temtempo the Percussion Djinn
1 No.20 Giga Brilliant
1 No.39 Utopia
1 Gachi Gachi Gantetsu
1 No C39: Utopia Ray
1 Chimeratech Fortress Dragon
2 Stardust Dragon
1 Armory Arm
1 Ally of Justice Catastor
+1 anything you like

Wind-Up Rabbit in this deck is actually quite good. Since his effect is a placeback (not a summon), you can play around cards like Stumbling and poke for damage each turn.
Dream Clown clears the way and allows Rabbit to poke.
Double Road protects against Torry which is annoying to deal with.
Saber Tiger is a level 3 and is easy to protect because of stumbling so have 2 or more is easy.

From Sephiroth's build I would highly advise -1 Mirror Force, -1 D-Prison and -1 Mind Control for 3 Dualities. The deck is very combo-based and doesn't special summon very often, Duality gives you a much better consistency and allows you to grab Stumbling and Dream Clown easier.

If you wanted to go a step further you could drop a Wave-Motion Cannon for a 3rd Cardcar.

And I would personally run Veilers over the Saber Tigers, you're a sitting duck against Inzektors and it's just an extra out that also stops Rabbit and Lylas/Chaos Sorcs/BLS/Ryko from ruining your day.

Duality is a good option. However, i dislike it.
It gives your opponent too much information about what's in your hand and can thus play differently.
Veiler is good though
My locals has run dry of Inzektors so i totally forgot bout that Deck.
Switch the tigers for 2 Effect Veilers and 1 Fiendish Chain

In a deck this reliant on key cards, I'd say Duality is an absolute necessity, especially since the major things to add allow you to either play them straight away or play them without threat, or cause a mind game with them. Since odds are you'll probably be pulling Stumbling, Wind-Up Rabbit or a Trap that threatens their plays.

That is very true. Still, in the case you don't Duality won't help.

If anything, i'd probably only play the two. I played Clown Control for ages, and Duality was helpful. But 3 was overkill.
Especially with Cardcar D in the main. The fact most of your monsters tutor themselves as well means you don't really need the extra draw.
But thats how i would play the Deck myself. Everyone has a unique playstyle and certain card choices dictate that.

Thanks for the help sephiroth and chris. Sorry forgot to check this thread.

Updated my OP with the deck based on your suggestions. Keep forgetting how much a staple Tour Guide and Rabbit are nowadays XP. I decided to keep a RotA around in exchange for a Carcar D since I personally like the prospect of using more Dream Clown. That also changed the Extra Deck up a little from your suggestions, but not much.
