Operation Huntar

Brushfire

Recommended Posts

This isn't a real operation. This isn't even a detailed thread describing what you should do. I'd say it's a shameless plug, but this isn't my work.

See, a long time ago in the lands of YCM there a moderator named Huntar, who ruled the General section with an iron fist. Basically I just found this again, couldn't stop laughing and want more people to read it, I think there are a few still on here that will find this funny.

The newer members won't get the "obscure" references... I mean, who even remembers WiiOmi (am I even spelling that correctly?) and Father Wolf and Princess Kitty and... you get the point.

It's an amazing read, though, and it's probably the only piece of literature on YCM that I actually enjoyed reading.

...I do.

Still that s*** was hilarious back then. Brought back a good laugh.

No, you're completely right there, but a lot of people still remember you, OMGAKITTY and Icyblue. Plus the opening line about YCMaker and Falling Pizza not being around is totally relevant. Why is there no around that can get my references anymore...

I'll be honest, even I don't remember OMGAKITTY that well anymore.

You know, we could totally turn this thread into (or make a new thread that serves the purpose of) a nostalgic events discussion.
I was kinda hoping for this actually. It may be that my recall is not so good at 4:36am but I don't really remember any cool moments that we all had on here. Except for ripping it into Striker and attempting Pokemon Obsidian.

Protip: it's not how it is displayed in the piece of literature above

In all seriousness, please do. Despite being an amazing satire, it's shockingly truthful - I cannot disagree with any of the characterizations, not even the snide comments made about me. Corporal really knew what he was doing, and had a really good grasp of how this forum ran.

Well we had the OP, Draco which everybody should know about, the great Striker fiasco and I think that's it for major crap.

At least that's all I can recall.

I guess that shitty big YCM club RP can somewhat count but it sucked and died.

Oh yeah - he really did. Plus the Coolio accounts were possibly the best thing to ever happen to this forum.

Brush, I was actually looking back at the hate thread and the humility thread today. Boy, was I stupid back then.
Yeah, I looked at that yesterday. I wouldn't worry too much about that, some of my comments in there are absolutely ridiculous despite some of them just being attempts at trolling. It was funny at the time though.

"Boy, was I stupid back then."

I think we all were. Whenever I come across one of my older posts, I cringe - they're poorly-written, the arguments are disgustingly flawed, and I cannot even begin to imagine how I went years (well, two or three) on this forum with people thinking I was a good debater. I've definitely progressed as a member since, but I really wish I could go back in time and delete all those incriminating posts.

"Draco which everybody should know about"

Even some of the older members don't understand the full story behind the Draco case. Same goes with the ragnarok case. I think both cases are really overblown and hyped up for no reason - though I'm a bit angry that, to my knowledge, we don't have any access to the December thread. I understand that the mods want to keep a few things classified (y'know, keep the new members "in line"), but Draco had a huge impact on YCM and his legacy, tainted or otherwise, should be part of the chronology of this website. Some people don't care whether or not they know the history of this forum, but it's a bit ingrained into the memory of the older members.

I was forgetting the Rag case, thanks bro.

Well, I was more so implying that people got the general idea of it. But yeah I can totally understand the frustration behind not knowing the whole story. It kinda bothers me too. But alas, the mods get to (sadly) hide stuff from the general population, so all we really have to do is deal with it at the moment.

Man for a drama cesspool we really lack big dramatic scenarios though. I've always assumed we've had more.

I was thinking precisely this yesterday. It was shocking just how poor some of my posts were. Like, there we times where I thought, "yeah, that point wasn't too bad, but the delivery was absolutely woeful". Dunno what I was thinking half the time, seriously.

As for Draco... well, I know all of the details about that situation so I'm not too bothered about not knowing much about that. Think I got banned for supporting him a couple of times, don't really remember.

The day I choose to come back and check out how YCM is doing, I see this thread. xD Huntar was probably my favorite piece of literature that has ever existed on this forum.

It's so nice to see some old faces here, Dark, Sam. :D

I feel YCM needs more Huntars, so more amazing stories can be made.

Even though we were all stupid at one point, I think the point that we were having fun on the forum is all that matters, eh? :D

Speaking of nostalgic events - here's one right here! I'm so glad to see you guys all randomly showing up so I don't feel so alone on this site. Good to see the legend that is Cedefia once again!

Haha, not sure how long I'll be staying.

[On a side note, Sam, Code Geass was amazing.]

Who else has randomly arrived?

Neither am I.

I told you it was.

And so far, pretty much just you two. Ignoring that Dark was still lurking around anyway. Shh.

To my knowledge, that thread was deleted during one of the forum transfers we had. Although, it could just be hidden from me. =P

reffering mainly to the complete and utter absence of admins and a good percentage of mods

I just read this for the first time now, after hearing all about it when it was being made.

Too many people do not know the tales of Huntar The Savage, they must be taught to ensure that such an event doesn't happen again. Ignoring the fact that I actually like Hunter (seriously, I even have him added on Facebook).

No, there doesn't... unless Corporal Atlas himself wishes to. No-one else can write anti-YCM propaganda like him! This fanfic was YCM's very own Animal Farm.

I remember you and I'm in either thread that you could be referring to here.

Seems a bit selective and unlikely. I think Matt still has that speech somewhere though.

That was true then as well though. Not saying it isn't still relevant but...
