Stan Alda
What a morning! For those of you who weren't paying attention to the status feed, Cifer went on a name-changing spree (he even went so far as to change MY name!) as a prank. While I had to send him a couple of strongly-worded messages to stop him from changing me, he relented and apologized; and more importantly, it gave me an idea for a new card. I don't recall seeing any name-changing cards on Yu-Gi-Oh Wikia, so I decided to add one of my own. By simply changing that oft-ignored part of a card, it can add archetype synergy, screw with your opponent's archetype synergy, trigger effects that wouldn't work otherwise...oh, the choices! Of course, it's only temporary, and its discarding cost not only decreases hand advantage, but also reduces the choices you can take from your hand. Think about it for a while. True-Name Re-Scribing SPELL Discard 2 cards from your hand. Change the name of 1 card on the field to that of 1 card on the field or in your hand until the end of your turn. True-Name Rescribing (Alt. Without Cost) SPELL Change the name of 1 card on the field to that of 1 card on the field or in your hand until the end of your turn. For those of you who are curious, a true-name (alt. true name or truename) is a secret, magic name for a person that grants control over that person if someone speaks that name. The most common example of using a true-name in that manner is in the fairy tale of Rumpelstiltskin; it's also a favorite of fantasy works. Look it up on Wikipedia for more of the juicy details. Do you think there is any way to make this card better?
Actually, changing a card's name can benefit you in Deck's based around certain archetype's. I don't think you need to add the "Discard 2 cards" cost, though, since none of the other name changing cards involve sacrificing cards that don't benefit the effect. Considering this one doesn't give the target the effect or ATK/DEF stats of the card it is changing its name to, you don't really need a cost at all.
.
