They can be used for control, synchro spamming, xyz spamming, OTKing... There's many ways to build them. Personally I use an OTK variant with a little bit of chaos/synchro backup incase the OTK fails. Gives them a little more depth and more options. I honestly think that the fact monsters that are terribly weak on their own can be this useful when used along with other cards is quite amazing, and this is one of the best things about Yugioh.
