Chain Golem - What if Lava Golem had an interesting effect?

I mean, aside from the part where you kill their monsters.

This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card can only be Special Summoned to your opponent's side of the field by Tributing 2 monsters they control. When a card or effect is activated as Chain Link 2 or higher except "Chain Golem": Place 1 Link Counter on this card. When this card has 5 Link Counters on it: Return it to its owner's hand.

This card will give you a +2 potentially if you can get 5 Link Counters on it. It also elongates chains by 1 link each time. Furthermore, it is a Machine, so there is potential with Chimeratech Fortress Dragon. Big potential. (I always wished the Golems were machines.)

Input? I am a bit worried about the +2 part. Thinking of making it destroy itself when there are 5 counters instead of returning to hand.

The only thing this has going on for it is that you can Normal Summon or Set after you Summon this, but other than that, it's not that great. Hell, I'd run Lava Golem over this because of the fact that it will burn your opponent, ie it doesn't take so long to get more out from itself than Chain Golem does.

But that all depends on what kind of deck you're running. If, you happen to run Machinas, then obviously you'd run Chain Golem over Lava Golem as Chain is Machina Fortress and Chimeratech Fortress Dragon fodder, so this + Cyber Dragon is a pretty good move.

Your reasoning is kind of wrong. its a -1 to your opponent and a -1 for you. Why? You tribute 2 monsters they control, and they get a beater. You lost 1 card by "handing it over temporarily" to your opponent. In all honesty, I agree with Zanda :/ The card is slow, and Lava Golem is far better given the burn it has, and how the opponent's Life Decrease could potentially stop them from using Warning.

I said it is a +2 on 5 chains. If it was a +2 on use it would be like, beyond bad design. Its not supposed to creep on Golem, but give a more interesting option. Also you are completely blowing off the fact that it adds a free chain link to anything, so if you have it out there you can essentially respond to anything they do, and then activate Accumulated Fortune.

You think I should make it return on 3 or 4 counters, not 5? To speed it up a bit.

TBH, Chain burn is the only thing that remotely comes to mind, and they don't need this at all. If you really want to return it, then perhaps 3 counters are good enough a speed, since 4+ is just punishing the card.

Also, Accumilated Fortune = Not really worth running since there are other better options anyway.

There could theoretically be something that does chaining other than chain burn.
Ok, ill bump it down to 3.
