Heimdall The Watcher
My OCG is a bit rusty, so I'll fix these later as I'm a bit tired. Heimdall The Watcher
Added a few more cards, sorted them out a bit, and made it a bit tidier. Enjoy.
Xi-3
Interesting, since you took your inspiration from the Marvel movieverse instead of comics or cartoons. Unfortunately some of your pictures appear to be warped, so you could crop them to make them appear more normal. I also find the cumulative effects of the Asgardian heroes interesting, especially when none of the other cards have the same cooperative effects. I think you should change the name of Loki's card to reflect either his title as "God of Lies and Mischief" or "Trickster God." he is most certainly not the Norse God of Magic. He's not even on the same level as Amora, really.
Heimdall The Watcher
I went with the movies because I have no experience with the comics, thus I wouldn't be able to do them justice, especially considering there are others (such as yourself) who can produce such sets in a quality form. Yes, I know they are, as I've had difficulties finding the pictures for my ideas (I planned on a card based on the miniature shoulder guns used by Iron Man in Gulmira, but couldn't find a single picture), and I don't have software handy at the moment to crop them, as I just moved and computers are still being shuffled around a bit. I made them that way to emphasize each of their strengths; The Warriors Three and Sif work best as a team, and their numbers work perfectly with Thor for a full field; War Machine has a more varied set of weapons than Iron Man, so gains strength from equip spells (which I'll be creating for him later); Fury is best suited to pulling out Black Widow and Hawkeye. I tried to make the effects suit the abilities, or at least the characters. I also didn't incorporate teamwork for the main heroes because they're more solo heroes who've banded together than an actual team. They aren't designed to play off of each other like the Asgardians do, they each have their purpose. Captain America is protective of his comrades, Iron Man is highly agile, Thor is a staggering force of nature, Hulk grows stronger through battle. I understand and might do that; I only made it Master Of Magic because that was the first title I heard for him, and it seemed to roll off the tongue easily for me. I didn't make him God Of Magic of course, only someone who has mastered Asgardian magic. I'm actually fairly aware of Norse Mythology (to the point I almost facepalmed when I heard that in Marvel, Loki is Thor's brother, as opposed to Odin's blood brother). All in all, I deeply appreciate your review, and thank you for taking the time to review it, especially someone who has more experience with the 'comicverse' of Marvel. Would you like to discuss them a bit more, the comics? I've never really read any - backtracking 2-3 decades worth of Star Wars books was quite enough for me, comics are even harder to track down. Xi-3
The program I use to crop pictures is MS Paint, which I do believe comes with any computer. It's pretty basic, but almost all I use it for is combining pictures (for example, for the banner in my signature) and cropping pictures for the cards. While my awareness of the comic verses is greater than yours, I still have very limit knowledge. Still, feel free to ask anything you wish. I'd lay odds someone on the Net has the answer you seek -- if I was a betting man. My favourites of the Marvelverse are Spider-Man, Iron-Man, and the Avengers after New Avengers because it includes Spider-Man. I have also read a few of Ultimate Spider-Man, Ultimate X-Men, and The Ultimates, upon which the newer Marvel movieverse is based (it's the source for the black Nick Fury) including the two animated Ultimate Avengers movies. Heimdall The Watcher
I don't know if this computer does, but I might check it out - honestly I think the fine-tuning is less of a priority for me at the moment since I have difficulty keeping my momentum in most things, but thanks for the advice. Thank you, I appreciate that, and I mostly have just bits and pieces that I've pieced together from my 'wiki binges' over the years when I get sidetracked and spend hours poring through link after link. It's interesting, but I still don't have much of a clue of things, especially with all the 'reboots and retcons' over the years.
In particular I was wondering what you know about the Chitauri from the end of the movie, Skrulls, any other major alien species?
Xi-3
The Chitauri seem to be the Ultimate Comics version of the Skrulls, since they're infiltrating shapeshifters. I couldn't tell you anything the movies don't tell you, though, because I did not read that part of The Ultimates. There are three major alien species who often seem at conflict in the Earth-616 verse, because they have their own empires: the Kree, of which Mar-Vel is one, the Skrulls (the shapeshifting, super-strong and super-powerful green aliens), and the Shiar (they appear mostly-human, to the point where Charles Xavier is Empress Lilandra's consort). The Kree are energy manipulators and they are very tech-savvy. One of their best known pieces of tech is the Sentry robot, which scouts a planet to make way for the would-be conquerors. If it seems like there would be too much resistance, it activates a bomb to blow up the planet. Mar-Vel and Noh-Var, a Kree with insect DNA from another dimension, both have self-shifting equipment called Nega Bands, which provide them with much of their fighting strength, and costumes. An explosive accident also meant that Air Force officer Carol Danvers became a Kree-Human hybrid -- and started going around as hero Ms. Marvel. The Kree were also commanded by a techno-organic computer called the Supreme Intelligence, or Supremor. The Skrulls' best weapon were their Superskrulls, who, on top of shape-shifting, also possessed a collection of powers taken from Earth's heroes and villains. One example is one who possessed the powers of all four members of the Fantastic Four. Another had a collection from prominent X-Men, and still another from some of the Avengers. The Skrulls also planted a virus in the Iron Man armour, which spread through the network to everything working on Stark tech, shutting it all down. Of course, these three can pale in comparison to other alien threats like Galactus and his Heralds: the Heralds, like Silver Surfer, make way for Galactus so he can build his resource-syphoning machines and drain the planet until there is no life left on it. Galactus himself eats all these resources. He possesses Cosmic Power, and imbues his Heralds with some of their own. Galactus is difficult enough to defeat on his own, but the FF have done it. There are lots of aliens (including the symbiotes). You can surely find them all on a Marvel wiki.
Heimdall The Watcher
Hmm...interesting...I'd forgotten about the Kree, thanks for reminding me; and I'm not sure I'll keep the Chitauri in that case. Yes, I probably can, but with all of the 70+ years of history to sift through, its too easy for me to go on another wiki binge, which I hate when it happens, so I prefer to get it from an intelligent source; besides, a wiki can't give advice, which is what I need right now. Part of my curiosity with the comicverse is because I'm trying to build a forum MMO for Marvel fans like myself, and I have a base system to work with I believe, but I need the Marvel background to make it realistic; I don't have too much so far, but if you're interested in taking a look I can send what I have in a PM. I'd appreciate some input on the Marvel elements; one of my key features is being able to learn any type of technology through something similar to a skill tree, and there are multiple branches of technology (for example, Alien Tech, which currently leads to Chitauri Tech, Skrull Tech, and Asgardian Tech), plus multiple alloys that can be used to create better items (allowing everything from Batman-like gadgets to items like Mjolnir, Gungnir, the Iron man suit, and more). Progress so far is slow, however, because I don't have the information I need.
Xi-3
A reliable wiki would be a better source of information than me, since I don't know that much about the Marvelverse itself. But feel free to PM me, and if I know the answer I'll tell you. If not, you'll have to ask someone else. I'm afraid that since my fandom starts with Spider-Man and the New Avengers my knowledge itself is extremely limited. If you really wanted to you could build your own world that uses Marvel characters, items, and skills. There are multiple Earths and verses, after all. Heimdall The Watcher
Thanks, I appreciate the advice, both parts, and I only know bits and pieces that have little to do with each other, so anything is helpful. I suppose in a way I am, since the actual characters will only have background appearances for the most part, plus there'll be a lot of blending beyond even what Marvel has done. Still, I can take what you said to the next level for the 'storyline' of the game, I can work on that...once I have a bit more information anyways.
