Variants are fun. If I play a more complicated variant, then go play normal Chess against someone else, I win quicker. xP

Probably because my brain is getting used to more complex strategies, neccessary in some variants, but merely a tool for winning in normal Chess.

I've only ever played normal chess. But I have fun playing' date=' and I'm good. I've got 4th and 3rd in the 2 chess tourneys I've been to at my school.

I got first in my only chess tourney, though the rest weren't too experienced, really. There were only 4 main threats, 3 of which I beat, the other got knocked out. Also, I went, with 1 of my friends, to a MegaFinal. And we were both 0.5 away from getting to the GigaFinal. And about 5.5 points away from the TerraFinal. Which is like, the junior UK chess champions... >.<

I've only played normal chess also. I kinda suck.

It's still fun though? xP

I never really want to either' date=' sounds so boring.

Not really. I thought you were intelligent enough to see the fun? xP

^ Only when I'm playing people who are even worse than me. :P

I agree. That is more fun than usual. xD

I do normal chess, and am pretty damn good for my age. I also make up my own arrangements of pieces sometimes, and leave the movements alone. It's fun.

Yeah, I once played with my Queen and King on the opponent's row, and vice versa. I think it was:

[Q] [N] [R] [bsh] [bsh] [R] [N] [K]

[K] [N] [R] [bsh] [bsh] [R] [N] [Q]

Bolds are my opponent's, italics are mine.

K = King

N = Knight

Q = Queen

Bsh = Bishop

R = Rook

Pawns are placed as normal. Feel free to try it! ^_^

One of my favorites is when you switch the rows, so that the pawns are in the back and the king is exposed from the front. I also like having the pieces arranged as:

• P P P P

P R B B R P

P N K Q N P

I call it "The Battlement." Note that • indicates an empty space. It is placed so that the king and queen are in the first or eighth rank. Feel free to try.

lol, i love chess.. i havent played any variants but i must say, i have only lost 3 games of chess in my current life...

those 3 were to a friend who played it much more than i have....and i have played roughly, 3000 games to date....

i didnt calculate the practice years either XD.... ooh and my favorite piece is the pawn, simple and if it can endure it becomes one of your best pieces ^_^

Nice. I think I've lost about 50 out of about 500 games. If you haven't played any variants, give it a try! ^.^

Edit: I lost a pawn at the start of a game against my math teacher (best in the entire school) and I ended up losing because of it. >.<

Also, he was the ONLY one in my school that I lost to. Twice, in fact.
