Chance's Interviews (Reviews really) - Episode 1 - Firestars and their intuitive Firedances

Recommended Posts

This is my first all out interview (Reviews really) done here in YCM and frankly I took the chance to come and look at an intuitive new archtype that is still undermined, but non the less a potential candidate to some good and cooperative game play: The "Firestars". Today I will be personally interviewing each of our guests and their exquisite dance routines for the like.

My trip began with me ending in a Hawaiian type resort, very tropical, and VERY hot. I looked into the resort for a few drinks, in which I had a strange and spicy beverage called a molten soda pop with a hint of assorted fruits. It was rather tasty. Unbeknownst to me, there was a carnival ready to appear outside the plaza, and so I took my beverage, paid the tender, and made my way to the delightfully exotic music.

Fire. Sparks. Everything was lit aflame, and everything was warm with excitement filling the air. It was there that I saw a ravaging display of lights and dancing. Never have I seen such glorious spectacular physique and posture with every movement. I was capture by the beauty. Within moments, the show was over, and I genuinely asked the cast for permission to make them my first ever interview.

"I now speak with the current leader of the Firestars, King Soko. How do you do?"

"Very, very well! Do hope you enjoyed the show!"

"Indeed I did! So tell me, how long have you and your Firestars been out and ablaze?"

"We are actually quite new to the area, but it's because we are new that we don't want to disappointing. It's only been...about less than two months?"

"And what is part of your routine?"

"Simple really. We are dancers, and as such we show our true colors when we are paired with our dances. But before I show you around, I would like to point out the main purpose of our crew. We revolve on our dances, all but one which is continuous. Being able to search out and activate any "Firedance" Spell/Trap Card from the Deck is something quite fascinating and by using these techniques, we are able to open up a wide variety of combat. After all, dancing can also be rooted to fighting, and we make good use of that. Now here's the first of our crew members."

"Chance, that is your name right?"

"Yes sir."

"Alright. Chance, this is our agile phoenix, Seiven. Admitingly, he is not our best of fighters, but he does help us preform our dances quite nicely. He has the following effect."

If this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard: You can set 1 "Firedance" Spell card from your Deck. "Firedance" Spell and Trap Cards cannot be destroyed by your opponent's card effects.

"As you can see, he keeps our Firedance Spells and Traps from being destroyed by cards such as Mystical Space Typhoon, Heavy Storm, and the like, and since you have to get rid of him first, he decides to transfer his own energy into a dance himself. He's never gone from the field, in a sense anyway. He's a potential side against heavy destruction so adding 1 to a side deck could be done fairly nice. However he can also be mained if you just decide to run us alone as we are quire prominent. Next we have:"

"This is our Great Firestar, Hawkei. He still has a long way to go, but here's his effect:"

When this card is destroyed by your opponent's card (either by battle or by card effect): You can choose 1 "Firedance" Spell Card from your Deck and Set it in your Spell & Trap Card Zone. While a "Firedance" Spell or Trap Card is face-up on the field, all "Firestar" monsters you control gain 500 ATK and DEF.

"Basically, he is a form of power boost, and by boosting himself, he can fend of up to 2000 ATK monsters, and even if he is gone, he also turns into dancing energy which we always welcome. Next we have our two strongest Main Deck monsters, Majestic Firestar - Sharin, and Minute Firestar - Ryushinshin with their effects respectively."

Once per turn, when a "Firedance" Spell/Trap Card is sent to the Graveyard: You can set 1 "Firedance" Trap Card from your Deck. Once per turn: You can send 2 face-up "Firedance" Spell/Trap Cards you control to the Graveyard; draw 1 card(s).

Once per turn, if a "Firedance" Spell/Trap Card is activated: You can Set 1 "Firedance" Trap Card from your Deck. Once per turn: You can send 2 "Firedance" Spell/Trap cards you control to the Graveyard to target 1 "Firestar" monster in your Graveyard, except "Minute Firestar - Ryushishin"; Special Summon that target.

"Both these Firestars are quite powerful, being able to either revive or make use of now would be useless cards for advantage. I particularly like Ryushinshin, since he is my head monster for he's the one who calls me out. Both of these monsters however, can only search Trap "Firedance" cards from the Deck. But it is of no matter, especially given Magic Planter, but we will talk about that with the Traps. Next we have our two field clearers, Dark Firestar - Yushi, and Brave Firestar - Ensho."

Once per turn, when this card inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent: You can set 1 "Firedance" Spell Card from your Deck. Once per turn: You can send 1 "Firedance" Spell/Trap card you control to the Graveyard to target 1 monster on the field; destroy that target.

Once per turn, when this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard: You can Set 1 "Firedance" Spell Card from your Deck. Once per turn: You can send 1 "Firedance" Spell/Trap Card you control to the Graveyard to target 1 Spell/Trap Card on the field; destroy that target.

"As you can see, both are 1-for-1 removal, with both the backrow and frontrow your opponent controls, and both gain positive effects if they inflict either battle damage or destroy monsters, both of which we can do easily by ourselves, but with "Firedance" Spells and Trap cards aiding us, we can do much more. Now just like with our two strongest Firestars, these two can only search Spell Cards, which makes them quite valuable to our assets. The we have our Main Beater, Mighty Firestar - Hienshaku."

You can Special Summon this card (from your hand) by sending 3 face-up "Firedance" Spell/Trap Cards you control to the Graveyard. When this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can select 1 "Firedance" Trap Card from your Deck and Set it under your control. This effect of "Mighty Firestar - Hienshaku" can only be activated once per turn. Beast-Warrior-Type monsters you control cannot be targeted by your opponent's card effects.

"Soko, I have a question. If this guy is both a beater and can search Trap Cards, why isn't he classified with the other two Firestar Trap Searchers?"

"Quite simple. The way he is Summoned and what he actually does. He is our highest, current, Level Firestar that resides in the Main Deck. Not only that, but he provides us with Protection against targeting effects which is nice if you run only us. But even then, the amount of resources it would take to implement him outweighs the gains most of the time, making him...a little less entertaining, much like how Choraio, Hoshin, and Choten do not even aid us in any particular way and where they do aid us makes our plays laughable...which is why I have banished them from my crew."

"Harsh..."

"I say they earned it. Moving on. The last one of the monster line up, is none other than myself, Firestar King - Soko."

2 Level 4 Beast-Warrior-Type monsters
When this card is Xyz Summoned: You can Set 1 "Firedance" Spell or Trap card from your Deck. Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; negate the effects of all face-up monsters currently on the field, except Beast-Warrior-Type monsters. When this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard: You can send 3 "Firedance" Spell/Trap cards you control to the Graveyard; Special Summon 2 Level 4 Beast-Warrior-Type monsters with the same ATK from your Deck in face-up Defense Position.

"As you can see by my effect, I am quite powerful when used right. And do not mock my attack power, for you will see the true power of our dances soon enough. A little more information on me, I can negate all face-up monster effect, except for my own as well as those who are solely Beast-Warriors. Not only that but if I should leave the field while you have and advantage backrow, I can retrieve two of my loyal Beast-Warrior-Type monsters with the same ATK from the Deck. And it can be anyone! The infamous Gladiator Beasts, Laquari and Darius, the old and mighty Enraged Battle Ox, and even the Koa'ki Meiru Beast-Warriors are all within my reach, setting up so that I can be Summoned once more to the field. But moving on, to the most powerful more interesting piece, our Firedances! Let us begin with the Spells. First in out line up is Firedance - Tensu."

Once per turn, during your Main Phase, you can Normal Summon 1 Beast-Warrior-Type monster in addition to your Normal Summon or Set. All Beast-Warrior-Type monsters you control gain 100 ATK.

"Before I continue, all the Firedances we have contain two set effects. The first, helps us in several ways, and the other is a continuous ATK boost that gives us either 100 ATK+ (the Spell Cards) or 300 ATK + (The Trap Cards, excluding 1). This one allows us to Normal Summon our Beast-Warrior type comrads more than once! Something we learned from both Atlanteans and Sacred Stars. Next we have Firdance - Tenki."

When this card is activated: You can add 1 Level 4 or lower Beast-Warrior-Type monster from your Deck to your hand. All Beast-Warrior-Type monsters you control gain 100 ATK. You can only activate 1 "Firedance - Tenki" per turn.

"A Powerful Search Engine is what Tenki is. With it, all my Firestars and more are available to a player and our forces speak for themselves. But with such power comes responsibility, and as such you can only activate one of these per turn. Choose wisely that which you search. These are currently the only Spell Cards we have available, but hopefully we will see more in the future. Now we begin with our Trap Cards, and such start off with Firedance - Tenken."

Activate only during a Main Phase 1. When this card is activated: Target 1 Beast-Warrior-Type monster you control; during this Main Phase, that target's effects on the field are negated, and it is unaffected by card effects, except this card. Beast-Warrior-Type monsters you control gain 300 ATK.

"At first, this card looks unworthy. Little do people know, that it can be a useful card in more than one way. As a field boost, it forces certain monsters to back off from your Beast-Warriors since they grow in strength, but not only that, it also protects your monsters from card effects. Granted, it may negate the effect of your monster...temporarily. Remember when I said about Magic Planter? Now turn your protected monster loose once more, and gain a +1 hand advantage. Where is this card no longer, excuse the term, sexy? Moving on to the next in the line up, Firedance - Tensen."

When this card is activated: Target 1 face-up Beast-Warrior-Type monster you control; it gains 1000 ATK until the End Phase. While this card is face-up on the field, Beast-Warrior-Type monsters you control gain 300 ATK.

"Rivaling the power of the now semi-limited Kalut of Blackwings, this trap card is both searchable, set able, and highly explosive. In total, 1 of your Beast-Warriors gains the strength of 1300 ATK while the rest of your Beast-Warriors gain 300. And astounding card, especially during the Damage Step. I did warn you not to take our decent ATK stats for granted. We can become powerful within moments. And onto our last Trap Card so far, Extreme Firedance - Seito."

Banish 7 "Firedance" Spell/Trap cards from your Graveyard; Special Summon as many "Firestar" monsters from your Graveyard as possible, and if you do, Set "Firedance" Spell/Trap cards from your Deck, except "Extreme Firedance - Seito", up to the number of monsters Special Summoned by this effect.

"Effectively powerful this card can be, should we get more Firedance Spells and Traps. This dance was based on balancing a card called Rekindling, which Lavals, and other old fashion decks now require. Sadly, our power does not require such a card just yet, but holds the line for future potential. And with this, I have no further assets for you to interview, Chance."

"That's quite alright King Soto, in fact I think you've shown us the inquisitiveness of your Firestars. And with that I conclude this session's "Chance's Interviews (Reviews really)". I'm Chance Furlong, and I'll see you next time! Good-bye Everybody.

Son, look at me, are you high?
Yes, yes I am (derp)

I genuinely didn't read that, for no other reason than I haven't yet read any of their effects and I'm only interested in Tenki for random Beast-Warrior Stun decks.
I figured.

I did this because...actually why did I do this? XP
