How is keeping old (reprinted) broken cards around economical when it could interfere with new (expensive/money making) broken cards? Because as it stands now, Konami will have to make a more busted version of these cards to sell, instead of banning these and making a watered down version that might sell a little less (depends on if Konami gives those cards new archetypes to go with).

If you want to talk Economics, Konami should rotate out old cards (except for a select few) and force people to use their new products.

I'm thinking every 6 months or so, release a big set at the beginning of each format and a smaller set halfway through. This would allow card makers to create cards that pertain to the meta and have a healthy impact with the current pool of cards (not release stuff and watch what card from the several thousand card pool breaks it).

The only problem is that this probably isn't as profitable as what Konami is doing right now so thats probably not going to happen.

People aren't as likely to use something that's limited or banned. As long as it's available, there's a chance that it can become the style again and people will suddenly start buying a ton. Or simply that they will keep buying the packs they are already in on occasion. Why kill off the possibility of getting rid of old packs/reprints completely?

They already have a system in place, and sure, they could change that, but rather than pissing off everyone who plays the game already and possibly losing a lot of people in the process, don't you think it a better idea to stay with the tried and true business model they're already using?

Not to mention the fact that this makes it easier on younger people to join the game, and people who used to play it a long time ago.
^this. Having to buy TOO many new cards every year will make people either quit or not want to join, even if it's a better gamestate.
Except this argument doesn't apply to GKs and Dark Worlds. All the GKs and Dark Worlds are easy to find and the Deck is easy to make, and people aren't going to go looking for the Structure Decks to do it. More importantly, they won't sell less just because these two cards are banned. GKs and Dark Worlds still remain as relevant as they were before without these cards, it's just that these cards are stupidly broken.
