Not-so-Radiant Arin
You can Special Summon this card (from your hand) by Banishing 2 Spellcaster-Type monsters from your Graveyard. Once per turn; You can Banish 1 Spellcaster-Type monster from your Graveyard to target 1 card on the field: Banish that target. If this is the only face-up Spellcaster-Type monster on the field: Your opponent cannot activate any Spell Cards.
So basically, Master Hyperion meets Secret Village of the Spellcasters. The only difference is, Banishes instead of destroys, and requires you to Banish 2 instead of Banish 1, but it's also Generic. So...discuss? VictorSempra
I have mixed feelings about this card. The cost to summon it seems fine to me, as does the double banish. My problem (as my problem usually is) is the massive negation effect. It seems too over the top for a card like this. On the other hand however, she has fairly low attack, and I have a feeling she'd get swarmed over easily without good support. It would jsut be TOO easy to create a lockdown with this + Royal Decree. That's the whole point of the Deck: Lock down your opponent from using Spells with Secret Village, top it off with Decree, and then use that advantage to Summon Sorcerer of Black Magic. I do appreciate the feedback, though.
VictorSempra
Yes, I have played against it, but the thing is that this is wrapped into a monster card that also has a near BLS type effect. A Field Spell is more manageable, I think, than a monster that removes things AND locks down spells. But again, with the somewhat low attack, I think it'd get crushed fairly easily. Sora1499
I like it. This may very well be the card that Secret Village Casters need to bump up to tier 3-ish. It goes well with the lockdown theme, it has a relatively easy summoning condition, and its effect is fair for the ATK. The lockdown on spells is balanced, I think, because if this dies by itself them you're leaving yourself vulnerable to OTKs and a major opponent's comeback. So, you're giving up something big for a big reward, which is good design. So yeah, good job.
Not-so-Radiant Arin
Hmm...I'm getting mixed reactions about this card. Very well! I shall challenge myself to see just how far I can push the envelope without the edges breaking!
newhat
The last effect shouldn't have a colon because it is Continuous. This card is why-would-you-do-this powerful. It's slightly slower to get out than Hyperion, and it doesn't raze the field like DAD, but its banish effect is more influential in the early game and it locks out Spells without using the Chain or diminishing your back row. 2400 ATK is not unbeatable but this card has way too much power for the amount of effort required to get it out.
Noted on the OCG Change. I thought Banishing was the whole Spellcaster theme. :\ Nevertheless, the last line is there to implement the fact that Secret Village of the Spellcasters is no longer clogging up the hand or the Deck, therefore making it useless and leaving room for better Stun cards that the Deck couldn't run before.
