Clearly a refined news site would do that for no apparent reason-

First of all life can't be formed without water, so there's no point in saying "no water not even life"

Second Mercury only has 1 side facing the Sun, the other side if extremely cold and ice could easily be created, and it's possible that on the hot side there is water vapour floating around.

3rd it says polar regions, which are cold, for example I think Venus, which is hotter than Mercury, has ice on its poles.

This is exciting to know and all, but... I don't see how finding water is any good in a planet where anything that gets too close invariably burns to a crisp.

Exploring should honestly be focused on places which the human race might be forced to move into at some point, not to those places which are the most likely to get swallowed first when the sun goes red. (Humans are not going to exist that far into the future because they suck and pollute and waste resources bluh bluh)
