Goblin of Greed

Recommended Posts

I'd like to note, even if it's blatantly obvious, because I'm not sure if Matt saw it, but this thing wrecks Atlanteans. Not only does this stop the Mermails from activating their effects, but it also stops the Atlanteans from doing anything. The only issue is really Abyss-Sphere and Skill Drain out of the side deck, but otherwise, this ends them.

It also, funnily enough, completely ends fabled. Though I wonder if the rulings are different since this WAS last released way back in Dark Revelations.
Upper Deck's rulings:
- "Goblin of Greed" prevents discarding as a cost, but not as part of an effect. So "Goblin of Greed" will stop "Kuriboh", but not "Mirage of Nightmare" or "Graceful Charity".
- If your opponent activates an effect and discards as a cost, and you chain "Call of the Haunted" to Special Summon "Goblin of Greed", it will not stop the effect because the cost was already paid.
i doubt they would change that ruling. as it currently stands it does almost completely ruin fableds but i think theres a few that can avoid it.

The Fabled Chawa discards as an effect rather than a cost.

Which, amusingly enough, means that if you Mind Crush the other monster Chawa has to discard itself.

Goblin of Greed, like Banisher of the Light, tends to die if you Normal Summon it against any Deck that it hurts.
So... what you're saying is... if we just make a version with 1600 ATK and 0 DEF, it'll be playable.

Upper Deck's rulings:

I don't see why those wouldn't hold up still. They seem perfectly logical.

There are bad fabled that a fabled player wouldn't run that can get around it. But why would they ever use them?

This is bad?
