Bahamut Shark - Zexal: Shark and Rio

Recommended Posts

First cards for a while, designs for cards that are used by Ryoga and Rio Kamishiro in 'Zexal' (ahem). As usual these are anime based as opposed to meta, but if they make Shark and Arctic Birds more viable then hooray.
These cards show a full range of Shark's many and varied tactics: from straight forward power moves with Silverfin and Shark Attack, to more tactical, gameswinging moves like Laevaitan and Deepsea Miracle! A Rank 6 seemed logical for a Shark equivalent to Gauntlet Shooter and OESG, as Shark has used various level 6's before (ie Jawsman).

You can Reveal this card in your hand to Target 1 monster you control: Decrease that monsters Level by 1, then Special Summon this card. An Xyz monster that was Summoned using this card as Xyz Material gains the following effect: -This card can attack twice per turn.

BHSH-006 Tanker Shark
WATER
****

ATK 1000 / 1000

BHSH-007 Deepsea Moray Snake

******
Sea-Serpent/Effect
When this card is Tribute Summoned successfully; Special Summon 1 Level 6 or lower WATER monster from your hand or Graveyard in face-up Defence Position with its effect(s) negated.
ATK 1900 / 2300

BHSH-040 Deepsea Dragon Laevaitan
WATER
******
Dragon/Xyz/Effect
2 Level 6 WATER Monsters:
Once per turn: You can Detach 1 Xyz Material from this card to target 1 face-up Monster your opponent controls; its ATK becomes 0 and its effects are negated. During either players turn, you can Banish this face-up card you control. During the End Phase, return it to the field in the same Battle Position. You can only use this effect of 'Deepsea Dragon Laevaitan' once per Duel.
ATK 2700 / 1500

BHSH-052 Shark Attack!
SPELL
Normal Spell
Target 1 Monster you control with 'Shark' in its name; it gains 1 of the following effects:
-This monster can attack directly.
-This card can attack twice per turn.

BHSH-068 Deepsea Miracle
TRAP
Normal Trap
Target 1 of your Banished WATER monsters: Special Summon it in face-up Attack Position. If the summoned monster was an Xyz monster; you can attach this card to it as an Xyz Material.

Designed to work in line with her existing cards such as Blizzard Falcon (see combination with Blue Jay and Northern Winds), Rio's arsenal of feathered friends expands, giving her a similar range of adaptable strategies similar to her brother. In the style of anime, there is also a hand trap for that dramatic defence, but it's not too situational. The Xyz' effect is based on Flame Wingman, something that I've yet to see an Xyz with exactly, oddly counterparting to Rio's icy nature.

BHSH-008 Blue Jay
WATER
****
Winged-Beast/Effect
While this card is in face-up Attack Position; the ATK of all WATER Winged-Beast type monsters is increased by 500.
ATK 1200 / 1000

BHSH-009 Frost Shield Wing
WATER
****
Winged-Beast/Effect
When your opponents monster with 2000 or more ATK attacks you directly, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand). If this card is then destroyed by battle during the turn it is summoned by this effect; end the Battle Phase.
ATK 700 / 2000

BHSH-010 Snow Sparrow Hawk
WATER
****
Winged-Beast/Effect
If you control 2 or more WATER Winged-Beast type monsters: You can Special Summon this card (from your hand); then target 1 face-up Spell card on the field and destroy it. This card cannot be used for an Xyz Summon, except for a WATER Winged-Beast type Xyz Monster.
ATK 1600 / 1000

BHSH-041 Great Ice Princess Gyrfalfin
WATER
****
Winged-Beast/Xyz/Effect
3 Level 4 Monsters:
When this card is targeted by a Spell or Trap card: You can Detach 1 Xyz Material from this card to negate that effect. When this card destroys an opponents monster by battle; you can Detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; inflict damage to your opponent equal to the ATK of the destroyed monster.
ATK 2600 / 1800

BHSH-053 Northern Winds
SPELL
Normal Spell
Special Summon 1 WATER Winged-Beast type Monster from your hand. After this effect resolves successfully: If your WATER Winged-Beast type Monsters attack this turn; your opponent cannot activate any Set cards during those battles.

BHSH-069 Snowstorm Barrier
TRAP
Normal Trap
When you would take damage (by battle or card effect); reduce that damage to 0. Then; Target 1 WATER monster in your Graveyard with ATK less than the damage you would have taken, Special Summon it. It's effects are negated and it is destroyed during your next End Phase.
Silverfin's quick and has sneaky combos with Muzurhythm.

Tanker Shark shouldn't have any colon or semicolon as it applies Continuously. I can't think of a way to abuse it.

For Moray Snake, you can't target monsters in the hand; this effect shouldn't target at all (a la Inzektor). It's not an awful card but it's situational.

Is Laevaitan supposed to be made with A Forgotten Continent? It's not bad, but it's not particularly rewarding since you can usually bounce or kill whatever you feel like with a Rank 6 anyways. The defensive effect is what makes it usable.

Shark Attack! doesn't do very much.

Miracle is pretty cool with Slushy.

While I like all of the cards I always thought that Rio had more of an effect negating archetype as in her boss monster negated everything face-up on the field. Why not use that a premise for setting up Rio's cards?

Well, not really. Her cards are just anime and do 'whatever the given situation needs'. She has a lot of burn cards, and also her boss is very overpowered in the anime. Being able to negate every other faceup card on the field for a turn? It's going to be nerfed.

Thank you for commenting though.

Fix OCG in a sec.

Since Tanker or any special summon (Treeborn especially) into Moray sets up Bounzer/Ptolmey's/Shooter/Laevaitan/etc, it needs to be somewhat limited. Might be pretty fun in a Frost Monarch deck. Can target monsters in grave but will change OCG. And it can revive stuff like Diva for a Synchro.

OOh, I'd forgotten about that. Wouldn't take much huh, good call.

Most cards from the anime don't, it's just pack filler that represents Sharks diversity and aggresion.

Forgot about Slushy, cheers (although the obvious combo is obvious). Rio's cards are up now too if you'd like a look.
