There is no "All of the Above" choice sir. Death note if possibly my favorite series. Have the collector's edition complete manga box set, as well as all the novels. Watched the anime, read the one-shot of Near, and going to watch the movies and get the first Re-Light in the future as I already have the second one

The manga everytime, followed by the anime, and Another Note (the Los Angeles BB Murder Cases)

The films would be on that list, but L Change the World ruined it for me....pointless to have a main character who can't die when taking so many risks, and far too much Engrish. As much I love Ken'ichi Matsuyama as L, he really brought L to life.

I've read L:Change the World and the BB novel, change the world lacked a lot of flare while BB had those amazing 'L' moments and an awesome ending.

Though I have to say I favor the anime over the manga even though I own the manga, just because how impact-ful the anime was directed I still get chills when Misa starts singing in that death montage and seeing death dates in goth lolita~

I prefer the anime to the manga for several reasons:
-I personally prefer the illustrations of the anime compared to the manga
-The sound tracks for the anime (Domine Kira, Low of Solipsism, L's Theme etc.) were overall amazing
-Light's voice actor in the final episode was godly at acting

Change the World was, as everyone said above, dark history.
