Yes, I realize he's really cruddy as he's a vanilla, and there's even a Level 6 Spellcaster-Type vanilla with better stats than him. But, the point is that with all the support we will make for him, he will shine once more. Post your cards below in the comments. Other commenters and reviewers are very much welcome. I will be handing out Reps. NoshpalStefan Posted December 25, 2012 Report Share Posted December 25, 2012 I like the idea of supporting Dark Magician, even though he already has some support, but the card you've made doesn't support much, since you need to have it in hand to activate the effect, therefore I know some Spellcaster-related spells that have better effect than this one. If nothing else, since the apprentice's effect is not giving you that much of an advantage, how about you add this to his effect: "Your opponent cannot chain Spell, Trap, or Monster effects to the summon of 'Dark Magician'" ? During the begining of your Main Phase 1: You can Special Summon 1 Magic Staff Token (Spellcaster-type/ EARTH/ Level 2/ ATK 300/ DEF 300). If you would Tribute a Magic Staff Token for a Tribute Summon of a "Dark Magician", that token is treated as 2 Tributes. If a Magic Staff Token was Tributed this turn, you gain 1 additional Normal Summon. You can only gain this effect of "Era of Magicians" once per turn. You need another setback in the effect beside the one special summon per turn. Otherwise this card is too powerful, no drawback at all. As mentioned previously, nice job on the picture, but at least add something like "Discard 1 card; add 1 "Dark Magician" from your Deck or Graveyard to your hand" or something similar. The rest of the card is decent (NOT overpowered in the least), albeit a bit situational, but the execution ishalf-assed. The idea is that it protects DM, yet can't even protect itself. I recommend that you give it stats like 18/16 so that your opponent can't dispose of it next turn. The 2 main reasons why DM is not viable are: a. DM is a level 7 monster, so summoning it normally makes you go minus. b. It's a vanilla, so there's no incentive to summoning it. My take on a card that fixes these problems: Sorcerer's Gateway Spell/Continuous You can send this card and 1 face-up DARK monster you control to the graveyard; special summon 1 "Dark Magician" from your deck. If this card is in your graveyard, you can banish it; shuffle 1 "Dark Magician" from your graveyard into your deck, then draw 1 card. [/spoiler] [/quote] The effect seems a bit weak ATM for all the trouble you take to get it out... what if you made it so that you HAD to have one of the Xyz Material as Dark Magician? Then, you can have some sort of effect like increasing the ATK of all other Spellcaster-Types and/or adding 1 "Dark Magician" card or just a Spell Card from your Deck to your hand. And when it leaves the field, Special Summon a "Dark Magician" from your Graveyard. They cannot attack and are destroyed at the end of this turn. [/spoiler] Now I realise it is ridiculously broken. But this was to get out more of these Supreme Dark Magicians and 11s. Then we should create a set of spellcasters that work together to promote the summoning of dark magician. Dark magician doesn't need a collection of inconsistent cards that will hang clog more often that not, he needs his own deck. But, veering away from the image, its effect seems kind of overpowered when combined with its stats. I mean, I know he can get destroyed by effects, but a 2400 Monster is rather difficult to get over, even when vulnerable to effects. Maybe make its ATK 1400 to make it balanced? [/quote] A spell is a lot, but not for people playing this in something like "Prophecy" for an example. I said it's overpowered for a good reason, some decks can just abuse the hell out of discarding a Spell for a 2400 Monster, it just isn't that much in some decks. When this card is activated, Special Summon 1 "Dark Magician Girl" from your Deck or Graveyard.
