DL
Umm...yeah. So I was practicing some GIMP stuff, using a dot as my test subject. So then I came upon some weird vortex thing I thought looked cool. Then I pasted Shadow over it, edited some more...and yeah. Tormented
Your first piece was much better, however there is nothing wrong with experimenting and coming up with new designs. Try and use G-Maps a bit more i.e more than one, sometimes when more than one G-Map is used efficiently I can make or break a design (Still confused as to if GIMP has that functionality)
DL
...G-maps? O.o Umm, not quite sure what that is tbh. xDD *is a noob*
Tormented
Gradient-Maps. If not you should really think about getting Photoshop js.
DL
Don't think I'm into GFXing ENOUGH to pay money for it xDD but I might consider it one day, if I get better And, oh...those Renji taught me those :'D I kinda used like 2-3 in the last one...in this one...not so much xD
Tormented
(You don't have too pay *cough*cough*) Anyhow to make a piece It might a decent idea to use them more often, work with different ones to see what works with different colours. CMRenji
I've been making sure he uses gradient maps a lot to blend shiz. We honestly could only find one good colour combo for this one. xD And I personally think that GIMP's a cooler guy than PS. ;
Tormented
Personal preference my dear, I feel that Photoshop is better from a blending point a view, but their are a larger number of add-ins you can get for GIMP. Besides one won't know which one prefers until one tries them both.
Aix
Without add-ons, Photoshop is better. I haven't actually gotten to try add-ons on Gimp, but then, I don't think I'm pro enough to need any as of yet. @Sarah: You pirating? OT: The vortex thing is weird and it looks unrefined. Randomly, there is lines on the right (Shadow's left). Also the red line on the top left is shaky and unrefined-looking. I personally don't like the colors either. Shadow is also too much blended into the background/the colors are too similar, and so you can't really make out the outline of the focal point, a.k.a. the head, and it's best that you can see it clearly. You should also try playing around with adjusting the render itself to go with the flow of the picture instead of doing (what I think looks like) just pasting it on top, and not just adjusting the colors/brightness/contrast/shadows/highlights of the entire either, but stuff like, perhaps, blurring out (as well as darkening, I guess) less important parts to draw more attention to the important parts. Tormented
I personally didn't pirate it, I brought an extremely cheap copy of a friend of mine. I was just stating that the option to pirate is there if no other medians are available.
