Shradow
John Malcome Thorpe Fleming "Jack" Churchill, AKA Fighting Jack Churchill and Mad Jack. ~ "Any officer who goes into action without his sword is improperly armed." During World War II, Jack Churchill was a British soldier who charged into battle with his longbow, bagpipes, and Scottish broadsword. As a Lieutenant Colonel, he would lead his troops into battle with a tune on his bagpipes, and he became the only British soldier to fell an enemy with a longbow in WWII. He also volunteered for the Commandos because "it sounded dangerous". During the war he captured 42 German soldiers at swordpoint, and escaped from concentration camps two separate times. The first time he was captured he was the only survivor of his group, and simply sat down and played "Will Ye No Come Back Again?" on his bagpipes before being captured. The second escape was followed by a 93 mile walk to friendly territory. When the war ended with the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, he was quoted saying, "If it wasn't for those damn Yanks, we could have kept the war going another 10 years." I salute thee, Jack Churchill. Discuss this historical badass.
LeguBrit
Reading that last line on the second paragraph he reminds me of the Hurt Locker main character...
Raine
So... Mr. Mad Jack sir... what was it like fighting along side Alucard and Walter versus Nazis?
The Amazing Avian
My grandpa met him. He said he was probably the craziest man in the war, but he liked the idea of using a sword.
Fusion X. Denver
What an interesting man. Crazy, but interesting. I actually think I heard about him recently, someone was telling me about a soldier that played bagpipes out on the battlefield and I thought that was hilarious. I think he should be commemorated for his drive as well, not just his awesome achievements.
Agro
He doesn't sound like a badass. His accomplishments... maybe. His demeanor... more like a bloodthirsty psychopath.
