4 cards, not 40

Recommended Posts

I saw someone else post LV monsters, and I thought that I should try to make a LV theme, er, set? Archetype? Thingy? A whatever, but something that won't be as slow as the other LV thingies, but I didn't try to make it too fast. The problem with taking your pictures from others and not being artistic enough to make cool pictures on your own is that this monster evolves from a scorpion to a crab, then to a spider, and finally into some horror with worms attached to one of its arms and both legs.

When this card is Normal Summoned: Your opponent sends 1 Spell or Trap card from their side of the field to the Graveyard. You can Tribute this card and discard 1 card; Special Summon 1 "Diabolic Vermin LV5" from your hand or Deck.

This guy isn't anything too special. He's a weaker version of Breaker stat-wise and effect wise, but he can still use his effect if your opponent uses TT. But of course, your opponent would just send the used TT to the Graveyard since it's going there anyway. Your opponent better have good reason to TT this though... Anyway, this card is very different than the other LV monsters in that it can bring out the next LV monster, and it can actually do something this turn. The other three have their protection and ED-disabling abilities increased as they power up. In this form however, there is no protection nor does this card affect the ED.
This card cannot be destroyed by the effect of Spell Cards. When a monster is Xyz Summoned: You can detach any number of Xyz Material Monsters from that card and increase the ATK/DEF of this card by 300 for each. During your Standby Phase: You can Tribute this card; Special Summon 1 "Diabolic Vermin LV7" from your hand or Deck. When this card is Special Summoned by the effect of "Diabolic Vermin LV3": You can activate 1 of these effects. ● Target 1 face-up monster on the field; this card's ATK becomes equal to the ATK of that monster +100. ● Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower monster from your hand.

Now we're getting somewhere. This card is designed to be useful if you bring it out with Tribute Summoning or Insect Imitation, but with extra goodies for using LV3 to get him out. Who Tribute Summons non-Monarch/Steelswarms or uses Imitation on a Level 4 monster anyway?  This one is immune to Soul Taker and Dark Hole, and absorbs Xyz Materials into power. So when one of those guys hits the field, it will do hardly anything, and this will become a 2600/3000 monster. Hooray! Bonus points if you use it on your own Pearl, or better yet, Gagagigo. If this hits the field via its weaker form, you can also boost its ATK by having it Wicked Avatar the strongest monster out there, or help set up another play with its Marauding Captain effect. The extra effects are worded like they are on Wind-Up Shark. It looks weird to me too.
Cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. Must first be Special Summoned by the effect of "Diabolic Vermin LV5". This card cannot be destroyed by the effect of Spell or Trap cards. Once per turn, when a monster is Special Summoned from the Extra Deck: You can flip that card face-down. During your Standby Phase, except during the turn that this card was Special Summoned: You can Tribute this card; Special Summon 1 "Diabolic Vermin LV11" from your hand or Deck. When this card is Special Summoned by the effect of "Diabolic Vermin LV5": You can activate 1 of these effects. ● Reveal the top 3 cards of your Deck and add 1 of those cards to your hand, then shuffle the rest of those cards into your Deck. ● Target 1 Trap card in your opponent's Graveyard; add that card to your hand.

I was originally going to make this guy be able to work off of Insect Imitation'ing a Level 6 Inzektor or something, but I decided to give it the effects it has and make it unable to be SSed by Insect Imitation. With immunity to being killed by the backrow (save the Solemn Brigade and any other Counter Traps you happen to be thinking of) and the ability to simply BoM a dangerous Extra Deck monster, this card will become a nuisance to get rid of unless you manage to hit it with a Lance and then slap it with TKRO or something. Or it could be played in Defense Position and be tied in power with Hyperion and Grapha (both which can kill this card regardless of its battle position). The first time this guy hits the field though, you get to either get a no-restrictions-guaranteed Duality or leech something from your opponent with the Mask of Darkness-like effect. I was thinking that if your opponent used the trap in question, this guy would less than likely hit the field later than he could have anyway.
Cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. Must be Special Summoned by the effect of "Diabolic Vermin LV7" and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. This card cannot be destroyed by card effects. Your opponent cannot Special Summon monsters from the Extra Deck.

Now we're getting to that point where it's just going to be slow to pull off. But then again, LV7 can be pretty difficult to get rid of. This guy just can't get killed by card effects. Hyperion can't touch it, Grapha would have to kamikaze, and BLS can't attack during the turn it banishes this. Your opponent's ED is also shot. I also had it where it would either discard a card to go double-Caius or have a free banish-version of Confiscation when it was Summoned by LV7, but an afterthought involving Level Up! made me think that this would be insanely stupid. I was going to have a pattern in the amount of Levels they increase by during each transformation, but I decided to change this one's Level to 11 for the sake of it being Level 11. I could also change LV3 to LV2 and LV7 to LV8 to keep the pattern, but it's not important.
