Ren✧
Well I felt the juices for my recent Crystal Beast support slowing, so I decided to switch directions for a little while. Even though they already have a substantial amount of support, that continues to grow, I decided that I would support FIRE monsters. I tried to take a different spin on a card, that I've never done before and I don't think has been touched on before. So let me know what you think. OCG help and CONSTRUCTIVE criticism is always appreciated. REPS will be given to all good/helpful reviews. Cannot be Special Summoned. If this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard: Declare the name of 1 FIRE monster; all monsters in either players' Deck, hand, Graveyard, or on the field with the same name as the declared monster are treated as having 200 DEF until the end of the Duel. Each player can only activate the effect of "Ember Swarm Salamander" once per Duel.
Darkneptune
I gotta admit, its an interesting card. I cant think of any card that can do anything like it... except maybe prohibition but thats still different. the image and name are great, props to you on that one. however, though it does have its limitations, i think its a bit too limited. first, you have to declare a card name, which means unless you know exactly what cards your opponent has, youre pretty much shadow boxing with this effect. second, it targets 1 FIRE monster, which means if the opponent doesnt use FIRE monsters, only you get the effect, not them. Also, even if the opponent does have that monster, and this effect kicks in, what are the odds that they will still choose to play the monster before the duel ends, or furthermore even get a chance to draw it. i suggest giving the cute little flaming salamander some steroids, big ones. for example, maybe making the defense of ALL monsters currently on the field 200 when destroyed by battle, and why not add in changing 1 monster into defense mode, for a turn or 2. that way your other monsters can have a chance to take out an enemy a little easier. Bleaknight
Actually, its effect is not abound reducing DEF. It's about making that declared FIRE monster a Rekindling target, which can potentially make some incredibly broken plays (as if Rekindling isn't broken enough as of now). Though I value the card's creativity. Also, that semi-colon actually has to be a colon since it denotes activation conditions, not cost.
Darkneptune
ohhhh, now i see how it works better. i was thinking of the card as a full single, not as part of a combo, but with rekindling i get it now. also, there is so much more to wording a card. i didnt know a semicolon or colon gave a card a different meaning. interesting. Agreed that FIRE monsters have already an abundance of broken support...but you know just adding more fuel to the flames... I gotta admit, its an interesting card. As Bleaknight said, this card is really more for just Flamvell Fire Dog and Rekindling shenanigans.
