CISPA is back.

This is retarded. Yes, I said retarded. I never say that. This not only damages well, the idea of fair use, it will flat out destroy some indie games like Minecraft, which rely heavily on player made content. It also affects business in a way. Let's say I run a store that sells cards. This would force it to close and now I'm out a job. Now apply this to things like Ebay and Amazon. How many people work at Amazon? Easily over 100, as a guess. Now take that and apply it to every store on the internet. Yeah. That's a couple thousand jobs here. The last thing the world economy needs is more job losses. Next, how will this work? As far as I am aware, the internet belongs to no one in particular, it is a worldwide service. Unless every country in the world agrees with this, I can't see how this can be implimented.

Then there's the fact all the other attempts at this have failed. They know we don't want it. Remember SOPA? Remember GOOGLE, the biggest website in the world, had a server blackout? Google's opinion probably will not change, as they had a petition last time. I would like for this to just die and be done with forever. Also, the internet is one of the best creations ever, why should we just wreck it for no reason?

Lastly,

It's a shame stupidity isn't a crime.

So from what I understand, CISPA will be able to look in on our internet trafficking and see what we're doing, and that's what everyone is freaking out about, right? If it's more than that, please enlighten me.

But in which case, this isn't the same as SOPA, which sought to suppress internet piracy. This is more about protection against foreign threats and rooting out potential inner turmoil.

See, what I never got was why people care if the government knows what you're doing.

No seriously, most of us here probably go on forums, Facebook, manga sites, [s]porn[/s], and stuff like that, right?

Some guy in the government's not going to care about any of that crap. So what if they know you live in New Jersey and that you like anime?

What're they gonna do?

Honestly, the only thing people would have to worry about here is they can more easily find out if you've downloaded music, torrents, or stuff like that illegally. In which case I sympathize, but I can't blame them because it isn't legal and they're not going to justify your actions just because so many other people do that.

It's not going to happen. The people of the internet are too strong for a silly law to pass over. I have no worries at all. I signed it just so I can say I have, but without my vote, nothing would change, the internet would look no different from what it does today.

Sick of this fascist idiocy.

This kind of utter assault on freedom happening so frequently and yet all people care about is whether or not gay people should be able to file a joint tax return.

Oh, and keep in mind that the petition just guarantee's a response, not results.  And even if it DOES get shot down, they'll keep trying to push this crap.

Then we'll be there every time to shoot it down.
