I know I do this often, but I am sorry, this is completely idiodic.

There is no way any sane person can validate such an absurd price for a card such as Mermail Abyssmegalo.

Thank god for online dueling sites and programs so that people don't have to play IRL.

Anyways, discuss.

This may just be me, but at some point (which this has surely past), isn't it more effective to buy packs?

This.  I usually get like 2-3 packs a week if I can afford it.  Through this method, I've pulled 2 High Priestess, Spellbook Tower, Grandsoil, Zenmaines, Harpie's Pet Dragon (most recent pull), Ultimate Tiger King, Pyrorex, Ghost Excalibur, Ghost 92, Elfuria, etc.

While the price is still crazy, it's closer to $105 then what they have there.  I always recommend going by eBay if you're buying high-end stuff because you'll get the best deal.  Either that or in person.

NEVER go on ebay.

In person is ALWAYS the best since most sane people understand that cards aren't worth that stupid price.

It's about £70 at my locals which honestly is a price I'm willing to pay/trade for a key card in a deck. Obviously it's a lot but it's not as if you're going to get nowhere in the format if you don't play Mermails, you can always build Rabbit for really cheap.

Never go on eBay?  eBay is a brilliant place to get plenty of things.

High-end, not at all.  But I always go by eBay prices in trades even at Locals, and it almost always ends up in me getting the better end of a trade.

If you go by ebay prices at locals, you're almost unanimously going to be considered a douche.

Ebay & Troll and Toad are considered the high-end prices. If you're selling at locals, you should be going lower on everything by like 10-20%

Selling and trading are two completely different things.  Case in point: I sold a Moulinglacia for $6 at locals the other day.  Cash talks, I'm a broke college student, I have no problem working out cash offers for almost anything.

Trading, however, its better to go by eBay for base values.  Case in point: Tiger King (Ultimate) ranges between 18-25 on eBay, so cash value, I'd probably sell it around $15, maybe even $12.  Trade value, I'd go a solid $20.  It just makes it far more simple.

That's just the way everyone does it around here.  And those who don't know their values, well, they usually end up trading their TP4 Decree, Ultimate Black Rose Dragon, and Secret Stardust Dragon for a Breakthrough Skill.
