Appropriate
The previous wording was slightly confusing.   The current wording gets the point across simple and clean. And wrong.
Ah, yes. The ol' "effect triggering everytime except the instant it's activated". Slight segue: I had created an Archetype that causes your opponent to draw when you activate your own effects. I imagined that this card would be a useable option to gain advantage from your opponent's drawing. OT: ... but, yeah, most any other application for this card is inconsistent at best.

>Play Appropriate

>Opponents plays Appropriate

>Jar of Greed

>????

>Profit

I've actually gotten close to ending a game because of that xD

I lost before I could play my Appropriate

EDIT: Wait, I never noticed the weirdness of the wording. Is it optional or not?

iirc You can't flip it anytime, you first activate it when they draw a card(s), but that time you don't get the draw 2. If they draw again after that, only then you get the +2

So you can't just play Appropriate anytime.

The 1st Errata is the clearest:

You can activate this card when your opponent draws a card outside of his/her Draw Phase. After that, each time your opponent draws cards outside of his/her Draw Phase, you draw 2 cards.

edit: Also this

Out of Date
 • If you and your opponent have "Appropriate" face-up and you or your opponent draw a card outside of your respective Draw Phases, the effect of each "Appropriate" is applied until you or your opponent cannot Draw a card and lose the Duel or gather all 5 pieces of "Exodia" into your respective hand and win the Duel. This process does not start a Chain.[Notes 1]
 1. 1.01.1 The newest errata for this card makes these rulings invalid. The process does start a Chain.

If I'm using this, I should replace it with Greed, or just play a better deck, probably. It's mostly worthless.

But Appropriate is rarely played as a counter strategy.

Appropriate is usually played in cheap Exodia Variants, that make you draw using Chainsaw insect etc, then draw 2 cards.

I versed a deck out deck that used this card...

it used cards that made me draw, and cards that made me mill.

I know it beat me at least once, unsure about any subsequent plays.

it seemed to be a good card for the deck.

But that's my point

If I'm going to be playing a deck that makes my opponent draw a lot, I should just play Greed so that I can win slightly more consistently. Though, this DOES allow you to use things that make both of you draw, like DWD and Hand Des, so...maybe it has a bit more use there.

I hate this card on the basis that NO ONE understands it. The fact it's the only card I know that was errata'd BACKWARDS does not help. By that, I mean it was worded poorly originally. When reprinted, it was very clear how it worked. Then the next reprint removed the clearer wording.

From my understanding, when your opponent draws a card outside the Draw Phase, you may flip this card faceup. Then, for as long as Appropriate is faceup, whenever your opponent draws cards outside the Draw Phase, you must draw 2 cards.

So, common errors seen:

-Flipping Appropriate faceup without fulfilling the activation condition.

-Drawing cards when flipping Appropriate faceup for the first time.

Having it re-ruled to start a chain at least reduces inescapable infinite loops.
