“Shark" monsters you control can be treated as 2 Tributes for the Tribute Summon of this card. You can decrease or increase the Level of 1 “Shark” monsters you control by 2 until the End Phase. This effect of “Evolutionary Shark” can only be activated twice per turn. If a “Shark” monster you control attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing battle damage to your opponent. When this card atttack: You can Tribute 1 “Shark” monster; this card gains 300 ATK until the End Phase.

What does the first effect mean? How does it make a practical difference?

 

I guess it's supposed to combo with Leopard or Cyber Shark. Maybe Man-Eating Black Shark? Double Shark? Shark Stickers? It's slow anyways. It will need 2 Tributes unless you have ALO and it doesn't have Piercing if it's alone. What's with the "also" on the last effect? Does it require you to be attacking a Defense Position monster?

It's a Level 7... it's one less Tribute then needed. And how do you need 2 Tributes for this when I clearly made an effect that allows it to get Summoned by only 1. The piercing is just extra, as you most likely want to go into a Rank 5 or 7 with this guy. Also effects mean you can also do that, it doesn't need to attack a DP monster.

 

EDIT: I change the also effect so it's more obvious, as well as boosted the piercing effect.

If I am not mistake things all shark plays start with a normal summon, so without (maybe?) Bahamut this is slow. Therefore this will never be xyz materials, as it is (kinda) safe and more useful on field, still slow. Though, if there is an easy way to summon it (that I missed), then ok I like it, if there is an really easy way, then either lower its ATK or limit it level minuplating effect, and if I missed nothing, then I think this card remain useful but only as a situational solution.

 

IDK if it is played in shark, but this on field makes Transturn better.

Eagle Shark and Panther Shark are two options in case your opponent has 2 or more monsters, and it's generally quite easy to get a lot of Sharks out, Stickers is another way, and Water Hazard can get this out as well. I didn't want to make it easy to get out, as it can create Rank 3s, 5s, 7s, 9s and 11s if you manage to play it with a correct Level monster (you can even get even Level numbers out with ALO) I also fixed the last part so it's easier to understand (I think I by accident my have made it so it needed to attack a DP monster, which wasn't my intention).

The first effect's wording is off. It sounds like you tribute a Shark monster in order to allow it to be summoned with only 1 tribute, which is stupid. 

 

The level gain effect is fine, and can be used with a Level 3 to be used for a rank 7. Piercing effect is okay too.

It's not bad, but it seems like pretty formulaic boss design.

That could work, but my meaning was rather that it would be a 1 Tribute Monster (Level 5 or 6) but I suppose it doesn't matter all that much. I'll change it shortly.
