I came across ygopro and their ability to add custom cards directly into the game. I thought it would make a fun side project for me to work on so I decided to design and code in a few cards for personal use. I am hoping for some feedback on these cards and I am open to any ideas to make them better balance wise . Dark Magician of Prophecy This card's name is treated as "Dark Magician". When this card is Special Summoned by the effect of “Dark Magic Curtain”, “Sage’s Stone”, or a lvl 4 higher monster whose original Type is Spellcaster: Add 1 "Spellbook" Spell Card from your Deck to your hand. Once per turn you can target 1 face-up Spellcaster-Type monster on the field; increase its Level by 1 and ATK by 300 until the End Phase. Spellbook of Secret Arts Equip only to a Spellcaster-Type monster that has a Level. It gains 300 ATK and DEF for each "Spellbook" Spell Card in your Graveyard and its Level is increased by 1. If the equipped monster attacks or is attacked, after damage calculation: You can destroy this card, and if you do, Inflict 300 points of damage to your opponent's Life Points for each "Spellbook" Spell Card in your Graveyard. Design Philosophy I wanted to link the "Dark Magician" cards with the "Prophecy" archtype so I came up with these. (not to mention the DM in the artwork shares many similarities to the Prophecy archtype). - Has a simmilar effect to spellbook magician since they both fit under "The Magician" Arcana. - Limited effect to promote DM support cards and prevent "Temperance of Prophecy" spam -2nd effect mirrors his spellbook and opens up xyz possibilities. Spellbook of Secret Arts -I thought a revamped Book of Secret Arts would fit nicely. -Not 100% set on the 300 atk / damage values, but might be a bit broken since idk how the average prohecy deck operates. But it seems that most spellbooks in the grave tend to get recycled / banished for High Prestess' effect so i kept it at 300. Dark Magister of Spells 2 Level 8 Spellcaster-Type monsters Must be Xyz Summoned, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. During either player's turn, when a Spell Card is activated: You can discard 1 Spell card; negate the activation, and if you do, banish it. Your opponent cannot activate Spell Cards with that name during the rest of this Duel. This card gains 100 ATK for each Spell card in either player's Graveyard. During your End Phase: You can detach 2 Xyz Materials from this card to the Graveyard; choose 1 Spell Card from your Deck, then add it to your hand. Design Philosophy -Wanted to revamp Dark Paladin with an increased focus on spell cards - Kept nomi status and fairly difficult summoning conditions - Upgraded "Magic Jammer" effect to "Cursed Seal of the Forbidden spell" ~ might be broken xd - Since it is not a fusion with Buster Blader; changed atk increase from dragons to spells. - Not to sure on xyz detach effect; limited to end phase so you cant use spell immediately and gives ammo for at least 1 spell negate effect. Lightray White Dragon This card's name is treated as "Blue-Eyes White Dragon". If 5 or more of your LIGHT monsters with different names are banished, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand). Once per turn, when this card is targeted by a card effect: You can banish 1 "Light" monster in your Graveyard; negate its activation, and destroy that card. Design Philosophy - Still needs some work - Might change into a Gemini with all the supposed blue-eyes support cards coming out. - Wiki mentioned the artwork resembles the "Lightray" archtype, so I did my best to make it lightray-esque. - Not to sure on 2nd effect Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
