The Computer: Can You Do Math?

The Computer

LIGHT

Level 6

Fusion/Thunder/Effect

"The Calculator" + "The Calibrator"
This card can only be Special Summoned from your Fusion Deck by sending the above cards you control to the Graveyard. (You do not use "Polymerization".) The ATK and DEF of this card is the combined Levels and Ranks of all face-up monsters you control x 300. Once per turn, during your Main Phase: Increase the Level of 1 monster you control by 1 until the End Phase of your current turn.
?/?

It's essentially what it says on the tin: a Contact Fusion of "The Calculator" and "The Calibrator" that can "reprogram" one of your monster's Levels for a stat boost and/or Xyz shenanigans.

Because its effect includes its own level, it has a minimum ATK/DEF of 1800, barring any Level-decreasing effects. 4 Level 12 monsters will bring The Computer's ATK to 16,200 (higher than Armityle the Chaos Phantom, which can get 10,000 with its printed effect) but cards like Greed Quasar and Ancient Dragon can go above level 12, making this card's ATK theoretically infinite. In practice, it'd likely be much lower, although this + any Level 4 monster will bring its ATK/DEF up to 3000. Not bad for a Level 6.

EDIT: I did my math entirely wrong.

The total ATK this card can have is 16,200

If we control 3 Red Nova Dragons (each Level 12) then that's 3600x3

We can add another 3600 to that because of Celestial Dragon being targetted by the computer, so 3600x4, or 14,400

Adding the Computer's Level 6 adds 1800, for a total of 16,200.

But, but, Celestial Dragon is Lv 11...

I have to say, I think this has great flavour. I love the idea of a contact fusion between the two, and the reprogramming aspect is well judged. It an actually be quite formidable, and I think it's perfectly balanced. It's a simple design, but a fair one; and would be fun to play around with in a less competitive build. Good stuff.

It is...but with the Computer's level-manipulating effect, it becomes a Level 12!

Actually, the absolute max for this card's ATK is basically infinite.

So, yeah, 16200 is definitely not the Max.

I'd like to give an estimate for how big it could get with those two, but I'm not even going to start...
Also, you could have the level gain be permanent. Just saying.

I think you should change the last effect so it can increase Levels AND Ranks.

Additionally, this monster can theoretically have an infinite amount of ATK because of the "over level 12" monsters (Greed Quasar and Ancient Dragon).

  1. Yes, I know about the infinite attack thing. But 16,200 is the best one can get without any level-manipulating effects (4 level 12 monsters + this monster). Of course, if you have 4 level 12 monsters on the field in addition to this, you might as well have won already. Under "normal" circumstances, I predict The Computer's ATK will be more in the 3000s (1 Level 4 monster=1200 ATK/DEF; 1200+1800=3000), which is almost OP'd for such an easy monster.
  2. I'm not sold on those ideas.
  • Remember that the level-up effect has no cost.
  • If it were permanent, one could just keep increasing that monster's Level for Synchro/Xyz shenanigans, not to mention adding another 300 ATK/DEF.
  • I'm not sure what increasing Ranks would accomplish, aside from the obvious stat boost for The Computer. I can't think of any effects (aside from this monster's, of course) that directly tie in with an Xyz's Rank. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks for the comments, though.

Actually, I would disagree with making a Rank increasing effect. Any Rank 4 now becomes Gaia Knight, any Rank 3 now becomes a Limited Force target. I bet there are others, but this is what I see off the bat.

And that's why I didn't add a Rank-increasing effect.
