Level 7 or higher DARK or Fiend-type monster cannot be special summoned but they can be Normal summoned without tributes. Galkin Posted June 28, 2013 Report Share Posted June 28, 2013 This card is unbalanced due to the fact that it permits you (the player that is obviously prepared for this card) to search any high-leveled monster in your deck and, practically, freely summon it for a minimal cost. Out of the named important monsters that this card could search and summon easily are: "Earthbound Immortal"...[All of them], Yubel, Dark Simorgh, Darklord Zerato and "Malefics" [Technically, it doesn't summon them, but it provides the requirement]. In addition, this searches Gorz, The Emissary of Darkness, who is unaffected by this card's only restriction. The biggest problem lies in its universal use. Earthbounds can literally just be summoned from your Deck with this for no cost and they are standalone monstrosities that had 2 problems to contend with and this removes both of them with 1 measly sacrifice. Dark Simorgh, a huge tool in what can be considered absolute lockdowns, can too be summoned from the Deck with ease. Also, Darklord Zerato is a Raigeki with a body. Gorz...well, you should already know, this guy isn't event restricted by this card's effect because he couldn't use it anyway. The point is this card provides the user with inmense searching and summoning power very easily, without the need for support. This card overshadows a lot of things for its large array of search options and removal of a lot of restricions from its search options, on top of yet another positive effect! If I may make a suggestion: You could potentially balance this card by remaking it to the following: Once per turn, during each player's respective Standby Phase, if the turn player controls no monsters: They can discard 1 card; Add 1 level 7 or higher DARK or Fiend-type monster from their deck to their hand. Level 7 or higher DARK or Fiend-type monster cannot be special summoned but they can be Normal summoned without tributes. When a monster is tribute summoned, the owner can destroy 1 card on the field. In this case, the effect has its time restricted to only the Standby Phase (which marks a whole turn), which gives ample time to prepare for the search and summon (Although, you can still summon straight off). One of the reasons it was so powerful was because the effect was practically instantaneous. I would still say the card would be unbalanced, considering it would still overshadow things such as "Mausoleum of the Emperor". Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
