Yatamoto32
Let's say that I activated Ring of Destruction on a Blue Eyes. My opponent then activates Barrel Behind the Door switching the damage. At this point I would take 6000. Could I, before Damage Calculation, chain Spell of Pain to Barrel Behind the Door? Then would my opponent take 6000 life-points or just 3000?

Barrel Behind the Door is a Counter Trap, considered Spell Speed 3. Only cards of equal or greater Spell Speed may chain to a card activating, so only other Counter Traps may chain to Barrel Behind the Door. Yatamoto32
So Spell of Pain would have to be activated before Barrel?
newhat
Spell of Pain would have to be activated first, but when you activate Ring of Destruction, you have to wait for your opponent to respond before you can use Spell of Pain.
Yatamoto32
Hey guys. I wanted to say thanks. I figured it out. Barrel couldn't be countered by Spell of Pain because it's a Spell Speed 3 card and Spell of Pain is a Speed 2.
evilfusion
Hey guys. I wanted to say thanks. I figured it out. Barrel couldn't be countered by Spell of Pain because it's a Spell Speed 3 card and Spell of Pain is a Speed 2. I'll also add that even if Spell Speed wasn't the issue, Spell of Pain wouldn't be able to reflect the damage, because Barrel isn't inflicting Damage itself. It's just changing WHO takes the damage. Spell of Pain and Barrel both have to respond directly to the source of the damage. So you wouldn't be able to use Barrel against a Barrel. Topic locked now, since question was answered, and should have been in Rulings thread anyway. :D
