Zappahcracker
So this is a simple card I created a while back for the lulz. It'd be nice to get some feedback. The concept is simple. When you draw him, you get 2 more cards, then put him back into the deck. When you draw this card from your deck, you can draw 2 cards. Then you can shuffle it back into the deck. Kyng's Old Account
Flavour: The picture isn't too great to give me a good feel of flavour here, but there is no doubt there's a nice chunk of flavour to enjoy with this card. The name, I love these kind of names, literally simple and tells you exactly what it is meant to do. The effect well reflects this, albeit not in the manner I anticipated. I assumed this might be in use for Deck Searching, rather than drawing cards. I suppose it is to one's interpretation of what is Card Retrieving I guess. The picture somewhat lets this down, though. I mean, sure, you could say this fella is looking for some cards on a table's surface or something, but I just don't feel it.Balance: This card is, basically, a self-recycling Pot of Greed. Pot of Greed is a banned card because it is a free +1 that requires no skill, nor effort on the part of the player. Pot of Greed is unhealthy for the game. Card-Retriever Spider, in turn, is Pot of Greed that can Recycle itself. Furthermore, unfortunately you have exposed exactly why OCG is crucial to this game. This card is phrased like this: "I draw Card-Retriever Spider. I now am able to draw 2 more cards. Do I feel like returning him to the Deck? Nah, I did just draw Allure of Darkness, making this a perfect amount of fodder." Basically, this card creates a +2. This needs serious nerfing.Use: As it currently stands there's no real reason not to run this card if you have the space. A free +2 is, in itself, too good to ignore. The fact that is creates even more advantage than Pot of Greed for nothing, at all, whatsoever other than drawing it makes this staple-worthy in an Exodia Deck. Sadly, while this may see a lot of use, it is only because the card is unfair in terms of its degree in power.Fixes: I think the effect needs re-writing. Firstly, I feel that reducing the drawn cards to 1 will balance this card. If you are dead-set on keeping it at 2, I feel that you /must/ discard or banish this card to use that effect, and then another cost on top of that, like "You cannot use the cards you draw by this effect during this turn" or something to that effect. Here's an OCG Fix:"When you draw this card; You can draw 2 cards, then you can shuffle it into the Deck."Here's the OCG I feel that should be in the current effect's place:"When you draw this card; You can shuffle this card into your Deck, then draw 1 card.""When you draw this card; You can discard/banish this card from your hand; draw 2 cards. You cannot (insert cost here)"
Zappahcracker
I wholly agree on your sentiments of the picture. I was just looking for a simple spider bot, but every picture seemed to be a steampunk spider people made and they just didn't look good for a card. The reason it is 2 cards is because if he gave you 1 card, there'd be no reason to use him. What's the point of drawing him, putting him in the deck, and drawing a card when you could just cut out the middle man and draw a card. Also, he is supposed to be forced into the deck, ie, you can't really use him if you activate the effect. I'll clean up the wording and add a cost. Thanks for the feedback! Zappahcracker
When you draw this card, you can draw 2 cards, then place it on the bottom of the deck. If you activate either card this turn, banish this card from your deck. There! New picture and I fixed the text and added a cost. See, now you can use the 2 cards you draw, but if you do, this guy gets banished and you essentially lose your card drawing companion.
