Althemia
An Xyz Monster that was Summoned using this card as an Xyz Material gains this effect:- When it resolves an effect that required detaching Xyz Material(s): You can detach 1 Xyz Material from it; destroy 1 monster on the field. You cannot conduct your Battle Phase the turn you activate this effect."Thunder never strikes the same place twice. That's why the first has got to hit 'em where it counts!"Realized that I really need to start brushing up on some card design, so I decided that I'd start making a card daily in order to try and get back into the swing of things. Started off with a deck that's dear to Black more than anything by giving them easy to search monster destruction. Mainly useful for stuff like Maestroke and Constellar Omega, stuff that can activate during your opponent's turn. Also if you guys could leave comments as to what my next card should be based around, I'd love to hear them. Mainly because I'm going to run out of ideas super quick.
Kyng's Old Account
A nice breather from my research. Let's see here...Flavour: You've played it very safe with the naming here. When it comes to Dragons, it is almost staple-worthy to name them with Dragon as the last word in said name, which follows what makes the Dragon what it is (see Alexandrite Dragon, or Blue-Eyes White Dragon). However, what makes this card more distinguished is the Thunder-Type that makes this very maverick. I use the term maverick because, while unconventional and disputable in terms of appropriateness, I like it a lot. Interesting is the picture, the Crescent Lightning clearly displayed in the artwork, but what intrigues me is the skulls. A tie with the flavour text, perhaps its prey? On a side note, Lightning and Destruction have gone hand in hand since Raigeki, evident in the effect.Balance: I couldn't say this card is unbalanced, really. Normally, it serves as an Effectless Effect Monster with somewhat formidable stats. If unable to Xyz during the turn, this card is rendered moot, however the effect it has is quite powerful as it can open up a number of possibilities. This card can't be so easily searched, with the exclusion of cards like Thunder Sea Horse, which does it a favour in balancing I guess. I think this card is a small cost for big payoff, and does require skill for use.Use: As already mentioned, it serves as an Effectless Effect Monster with somewhat formidable stats, but clearly for use in an Xyz Focussed Deck due to the abilities it has as an Overlay Unit. While you did make good regard of this cards' abilities to make more Defensive Rank 4s into more Offensive one. However, I see this and I can't not think of Number 16. Shock Master's Lockdown abilities would turn into a more powerful onslaught onto an opponent. Ouroboros would be able to get rid of two cards on the field at once. It is interesting you say Omega, because if you Rank him up into Ptolemy M7 you get even more potential.Fixes: None necessary, any changes would hinder the standard the card is currently at.You've got my image gallery if you'll run out of ideas, but if you need more ideas in terms of effects, why not attempt to make something that would support, but not break an Empty Jar? Althemia
Why not attempt to make something that would support, but not break an Empty Jar?That'll have to be something I outright refuse. The deck is degenerate and anything I attempt to create for it will in turn be degenerate. Sorry.
Therrion
Balance/Playability This makes surefire use of both materials where as some Xyz monsters don't live to use their second material (as usually it is a once per turn type of deal, being remove during the first turn your opponent has to fight it back). The drawback of the battle phase lost is huge, though. I don't really think it NEEDED that drawback, but it isn't a life or death thing, as you said, it works wonders with Omega (which is a common go to in Rank 4 Thunderyz), and once both material is gone, a Ptolomy is never a bad option. It would definitely be a worthy card of running, though not maxed out and not really needed in the deck, destruction is never a bad thing to have. Flavour/Originality The naming is very straight up, not really booming with flavour but hitting the picture spot on, which isn't really a bad thing. As Kyng said with the naming, basically. It destroying is flavourful to Thunder, especially since it is strictly monster destruction, which is an often concept of Thunder/Lightning in Yugioh. As for originality, we don't have an exact effect like this, the closest relatable card being Extra Sword, but that is only when it's Xyz Material, not when a material is detached and etc. Suggestions/Additional Comments As I said, I don't believe it NEEDS the Battle Phase stopper, but it isn't a killing factor. Perhaps just prohibiting the Xyz Monster from attacking would suffice? Otherwise, it is perfectly fine as is. Nice card, Koko.' Noble Knights. Kyng will rape your face with love.
