magemeek22
Well, foremost, the card type should be "Winged Beast", not "Owl" Now, onto the review. Sorry about being rude, but in all honesty, these cards have no synergy with each other. Aside from the fact that they're called "Owl"s, nothing allows them to work with each other. That said, let's talk about each card individually. Chubby Owl: Fixed OCG: This card gains 200 DEF for each card in your hand. This card is pretty damn good. Actually, of all the cards you made, this card is by far the best constructed and most balanced. It starts off with 1600 DEF, and with a decent hand, it should have around 2400 DEF. However, if you're swarming the field, by which your hand would become depleted, this card becomes less powerful. THIS WORKS OUT BRILLIANTLY; if you're playing defensive, this card does exactly that. However, when you switch to the offensive, this card loses its luster. GREAT. Swaggin Owl: Fixed OCG: This card is unaffected by the effects of Spell and Trap Cards. I'll be frank here: wat. So as soon as you get this 3000 ATK/DEF beatstick/wall out on the field, it basically can't be destroyed except by a monster effect? In the current meta, this isn't too bad; however, it's still powerful enough to warrant nerfing. There are several options you can take, and each is listed below: ATK 2000/DEF 3000: "Once per turn, this card is unaffected by the effects of Spell and Trap Cards" ATK 1000/DEF 3000: "This card is unaffected by the effects of Spell and Trap Cards" Oliver the Owl: This is a monstrosity. 1000 ATK for each card! That's ridiculous (no offense); this card needs to be reworked. My suggestion would be to make it like a Cloudian (i forget the name): This card can only be Tribute Summoned by tributing 2 or more "Owl" monsters you control. This card's ATK and DEF are equal to the number of Tributes used for this card's Summon x 1000.
Horu
Not to be mean: But I think I lost about 5 points on my IQ by reading this thread. The cards in general are completely pointless. They don't work together. Running them in a deck would get you slaughtered even with a level 12 3000 ATK/DEF monster. You want constructive criticism? Don't continue this series. :^)
I don't have time for haters. Why ask for constructive criticism. The criticism you received was neither pointless or rude, they pointed out flaws that you had made and gave you advice so you did not waste more of your time. I know since you're new you will think people are bullying you or picking on you, but if you follow advice that other people give to you and allow others to guide you to be better then we can all get along and have fun. :^)
Magemeek22 gave me constructive criticism and I appreciate it, and I was referring to Horu's comment in which he told me to give up rather than tell me how to improve. Yet you still have not updated the cards. Very appreciative.
Horu
Yet you still have not updated the cards. Very appreciative. I was implying that the owls were a waste of time due to the lack of creativity to be honest. Here's a hint: Owls are creatures of wisdom and good fortune. These cards display neither of those attributes. Chubby Owl makes me think of that owl from the blowpop commercial. Swaggin Owl makes me think of common street garbage. Oliver makes me think of that owl from Whinnie the Pooh. I honestly think the effects don't reflect anything an owl is known for. Hence why I said "Don't continue the set".
