Trap/Continuous

During each of your Standby Phases; you must banish 1 card on your side of the field. If your opponent targets this card, you can pay 1000 life points to negate the effect and destroy that card. If your opponent declares a direct attack, target 1 of your banished cards; return it to your hand or if the target was a monster you can Special Summon it.

This hardly needs a protective effect. It is ultimately a Normal Trap with the text "When your opponent declares a direct attack: Target 1 of your banished cards; add that target to your hand OR Special Summon that monster.

With that in mind, it did not really need a buff. If anything, it should have restrictions or costs, since being able to recover any banished card at all as a +0 can be a very powerful effect.

That was the buff. the original effect was that you banished 1 card during each standby phase and only got 1 back if your opponent attacked directly. the new effect is slightly too powerful. it's effect would mean that you couldn't do anything to it that targeted unless your opponent had 0 cards in their had. and while I'm not sure, I think there is a card that gains effects when it's banished from either the hand or the field. Banish and return cards are tricky to deal with when it comes to balance though, so I can see why you overbuffed it a bit, but a slightly better balance would probably be:
"During each of your Standby Phases; you must banish 1 card on your side of the field or destroy this card. If this card would be destroyed except by it's own effect; you can banish 1 card from your hand instead of destroying this card. If your opponent declares a direct attack, target 1 of your Cards banished By this card's effect; return it to your hand, or if the target was a monster you can Special Summon it."
Needs no protective effect as it will gain you plus cards the more its used an dmaking it mandatory means it will never miss timing when banishing a card. Think of E drags. They can definitely use this to get their searches off especially with the little ones being banned while setting up plays for burial of dd and even RotDD. That's why instead of protection I suggested a safety clause, a "just in case this gets msted, I won't lose all my hard work".

Here's what I meant in my post:

Opponent attacks directly. Activate this, recover a banished card.

At following Standby Phase, banish this card.

Boom. +0 recovery.

This is why it does not in any way need a protective effect. It's +0 banishment recovery.
