Nathanael D. Striker
If you control 1 Winged-Beast-Type monster, You can Special Summon this card (from your hand). You can banish this card from your Graveyard to target 1 Level 4 or lower monster you control; that target is treated as a Tuner monster, until your End Phase. You can only use this effect of "Black Bird of the Mountains" once per turn. I originally thought this out as a Level 2 with 800 ATK and 300 DEF, but I couldn't think of any viable Level 6 Synchro monsters that a Winged-Beast Deck (say Harpies) could use, so I went with it being Level 3 since I knew there were some options at Level 7 for Synchros. I'm not sure if I have the correct wording for the first effect. What I was going for was allowing this card to be Special Summoned from the hand only if you already control just a single Winged-Beast-Type monster. Any thoughts on that and the rest of the card is appreciated. So, CnC?
Therrion
I was going to say 3 more Gales for Blackwings, though this doesn't interact with Sirocco/Whirlwind, so that isn't entirely true. A pseudo-Gale, though. It does make some silly instant Synchros, but I don't really see too much of a problem in that. I mean, maybe a 1-2 in Blackwings for more Armor Masters at great speed, but I haven't used Blackwings post-ZeXal, so I wouldn't really know that. Other than that, perhaps going into Level 7 Synchro, then use Tempest to overlay? Isn't too bad. The last effect is nice with Scapegoat I'd imagine, free Formula Synchron, and could fix some situation later in the game if you just have two mismatched monsters on the field (mismatched meaning can't Xyz). Overall, I don't think it's overpowered, and isn't useless or underpowered since it does have some plays worthy of note. Nice, balanced card. Nathanael D. Striker
Thank you very much for that review, Therrion. I can see what you mean by it being a psuedo-Gale with its Special Summoning effect, though it does give it a fair amount of flexibility. I wanted Winged Beasts to have a more consistent access to Synchros (granted Blackwings have that, but others do not), and I'm glad that's good. And I guess making the second effect generic was a good decision considering what you said, and due to the fact it gives more access to those Decks who don't have the consistent ability to Summon Synchros.
