Dark Shroud (12/12)

Recommended Posts

These are my "Dark Shroud" cards!

Please post suggestions!

(Also, who's your favorite? Mine would be Tanti Pri. Although he cannot summon Borrar because of his effect, he can still summon out Icinx and others)

--Notes--

More powerful cards at the top! Lesser at bottom (Reffering to star count, not saying lower stars can't do as well though)

Only one Borrar can be allowed in a deck

Only two Evex can be allowed in a deck

Only one Grave Gravity can be allowed in a deck

Shri cannot special summon herself.

Edit: I'm considering removing Repugnante in order to add another level 4 monster with an effect, considering all the high levels.

Edit 2: I removed Repugnante and Amenza in room for Shalap and Evex

IMO, creating cards with the expectation of them getting Limited/Semi is not a good practice, since you're intentionally overpowering them.

Now then, time to correct the OCG for the cards.
Cannot be Special Summoned. Can only be Normal Summoned/Set by Tributing 2 DARK Fiend-Type monsters. All other face-up DARK Fiend-Type monsters gain 1000 ATK. When this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle: This card gains 300 ATK.
The restriction is somewhat negligible with Fires of Doomsday. The 1000 ATK boost can be troublesome if combined with the Dark Worlds' swarm abilties, but this card's anti-Special Summon restriction could possibly make up for it. Its final effect is mediocre at this point. Ultimately, there's nothing to justify Limiting this card at all, since it has no means of self-defense.
Once per turn: You can toss a coin. If the result is Heads, until your opponent's End Phase, only DARK monsters can declare attacks. If the result is Tails, all face-up monsters you control lose 500 ATK until your End Phase.
The effect has a rather negligible side effect if you fail the coin toss. I'd prefer it if the penalty for failure is that you cannot declare attacks for that turn.
Once per turn: You can send 1 "Dark Shroud" monster from your Deck to your Graveyard; this card gains 100 ATK.
Lacking in base stats. Lacking in the ability to boost itself. Could use a more significant ATK boost to justify its effect.
During your End Phase: Roll a six-sided die, then you can send 1 "Dark Shroud" monster from your hand to the Graveyard, and if you do, this card gains ATK equal to the roll result x 100, otherwise this card loses ATK equal to the roll result x 100.
Another mediocre effect that doesn't quite justify its Semi-Limiting. Yes, it has the potential to grow to incredible ATK levels over time. But can you really maintain its boosting effect long enough for all those die rolls to make a difference? Can you keep it on the field long enough to use its effects enough times?
FLIP: All face-up monsters your opponent controls lose 2000 DEF.
If we left this at "up to 2000 DEF", does this mean the opponent can dictate how much DEF their monsters lose? If so, the opponent will call 0 every time. Forcing it to a static 2000 loss won't change a thing in this card's intention as we don't get negative stats in Yugioh.
When this card is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard: Special Summon 1 "Dark Shroud" monster from your Graveyard with 1800 or less ATK, except "Dark Shroud - Shri".
This should eliminate the need to put that note, and prevent Shri from Special Summoning other copies of Shri.
You can send 1 monster from your hand to the Graveyard: This card gains 400 ATK.
Hello there.
You can send this monster you control to the Graveyard and pay any multiple of 1000 Life Points (min. 1000) to target 1 monster in your Graveyard whose ATK is less than or equal to the amount you paid; Special Summon that target.
This is a little problematic since he's instant revival for any card. You can splash him into any Deck that runs One for One and watch things go nuts. Maybe if you put a further restriction on what this card can Summon...
When a "Dark Shroud" monster is destroyed: You can pay 1000 Life Points; Special Summon that monster.
So, if a "Dark Shroud" monster falls into Bottomless Trap Hole, I can bring it back straightaway? And I can use this on the opponent's "Dark Shroud" monsters? Is that intended?
When a "Dark Shroud" monster would inflict battle damage to your opponent: You can have the opponent take no damage instead, and if you do, gain Life Points equal to the battle damage you would have inflicted.
I... don't quite understand why one would want to do that.
When a "Dark Shroud" monster you control is targeted for an attack: Target the attacking monster; negate the attack, and if you do, gain Life Points equal to half the attack target's ATK.
Easily outclassed.
When a "Dark Shroud" monster attacks, it gains 200 ATK for each card in your Graveyard.
...Permanently? And the opponent's "Dark Shrouds" can benefit from that too?

Okay, please specify if your card effects intend to affect "Dark Shroud" monsters you control. It becomes a fair bit disappointing in a mirror match when your opponent, running the same cards as you do, uses your cards against you due to the lack of "you control" in their text.

Gadjiltron You make very good points.

I see I have messed up in a lot of places. but I am still new here.

Shade Field helps you boost your life points. You can destroy a monster, and instead of inflicting 800 damage, you might want to gain it as life points since the Shroud's abilities have you loose LP in order to use them.

Dennoe - Oh wow, didn't even know. lmao.

Shadecrow - Why not both?

You make many good points. This was my first feeble attempt.

EDIT: (Also, I SHOULD make it to my monsters only :( )
