Kochi, the Daybreak

So seeing as I'm playing Blackwings this format I've had to make the decision on who I wanted my Shura target to be. Vayu allows Level 5 plays, plus Armed Wing & Armor Master's from the sky along with better DAD support. But Kochi allows Rank 4s [Zerofyne too good] and quick 8s [with Bora].

 

I guess discuss this card's viability vs Vayu and the card in general I guess.

I'm not a fan of Bora, so I'm not a fan of this card. Vayu's not a great topdeck either but at least Vayu's useful in the Graveyard.

but you can get rank 4's without running perhaps the worst topdeck in blackwings. hilariously you cant even plus off it from whirlwind because the lowest attack they run besides it is vayu, which ties.

It's unnecessary. Both Vayu and this suck as topdecks, but at least with Vayu it has a use once you've synchroed with it, whereas this just makes rank 4s which the deck can do easily anyway.

Vayu has 800 ATK.

 

This can Synchro for 8 with Bora, but because you'd Normal Summon it and Special Summon Bora, you don't get a search from Whirlwind to buffer.

Honestly, the capabilities of the Deck don't really need this. Shura + Bora + Zeph is enough to make Masquerade or anything like that, and if you take away Shura, then you still have an array of options, like Ophion, etc. There's absolutely no reason to run this.

This card is *ok* in Chaos Crane BW because you can easily trade it in for a crane via Swallow's Nest. However, it is awful as a top deck... And anything-deck. You basically don't want to draw this.

I would play it at 1, if only because most BW decks are playing a way to turn this into PoG now. (Cards for Black Feathers) Seems pretty decent, dunno why you wouldn't play it honestly.

Yes, it's a shitty dead draw, but it should be run for Shura plays at one or two. Vayu can be damn cloggy, and I'd far rather have the Xyz/Synchro option than L5 Synchro/BW Synchro.

Drop this completely run 1 Vayu run 2 sirocco to make the level 8s you need. The level 8s you should be running are thought ruler, infernity doom, crimson blader, they're really the only I es worth using because silverwind is hard to make (blizzard+kalut+kalut) and at that rate you might as well make catastor or gram and save the extra card.

Silverwind is okay, since you can easily drop it By Armor Master + Vayu and it's basically a 2800 beatstick out of nowhere, but that being said, it wastes your Vayu on something and you normally don't want to Synch into it the "politically correct" way, making it useless Extra Deck space. Kochi doesn't allow you to do that, instead going into something wimpy like Maestroke (that was hyperbolic).

If you're serious: The level 8s you should be running are Jeweled RDA, Jeweled Stardust, Scrap Dragon, Dark End Dragon, and (arguably) Stardust Dragon before any of that stuff you just mentioned. Also, Ouroboros is generic. I think that Armor Master and Vayu is a relatively unlikely combo (open to correction here), so that's another reason why Silverwind isn't ideal in the BW extra. I'd rather run Kochi due to the fact that it's not ALWAYS dead in hand (Bora plays n w/e) and that it makes Zerofyne n shit.

you can make zerofyne without even considering kochi. and yes its pretty much the worst card to have in hand because the deck's current win con (whirlwind) doesnt work with this card at all.

 

also, blader and doom are actually useful cards in bw. doom especially makes no whirlwind hands much less painful. also there is no reason to use regular stardust in pretty much any deck anymore this format.
