goddamnit names are a pain
No, because Armed Dragon LV 3>5>7>10. Red Eyes has....Chick. And Wryvern, REDMD, and a bunch of other forms. Armed Dragon also has DAD, but still. In terms of evolving, yes Armed Dragon wins, but he takes too long to do so. And I guarantee you the fandom for Red Eyes is bigger. YumeAkko
I never understood how in the anime they said that Red-Eyes is supposed to be the rival of Blue-Eyes in strength despite the 600 ATK gap and essentially being outclassed by even Summoned Skull back then. Anyway, recently Konami has been giving more attention to the older cards (for whatever reason) so they could always make some cards that would help Red-Eyes but I doubt that'll happen. They had a good chance to give Red-Eyes some support in Joey's World, but of course, they never did. All in all, I honestly doubt Red-Eyes will see any love from Konami (at least not any time soon) which is a shame since it's such a cool card. evilfusion
Blue-Eyes represented power. Red-Eyes represented potential. The Red-Eyes Fusions both were stronger than Blue-Eyes. Red-Eyes Darkness also can easily surpass Blue-Eyes.

玄魔の王
But then Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon b**** slaps both those Fusions into last millennium. Ultimate requires all 3 Blue-Eyes. Both Red-Eyes Fusions need 2 monsters, and they're different monsters. The idea is Red-Eyes beats Blue-Eyes to the punch.
evilfusion
I wasn't aware that Red-Eyes was supposed to be competing with Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon. The potential of Red-Eyes' evolution surpasses Blue-Eyes' raw power. If Blue-Eyes ALSO upgrades, then of course it'll surpass Red-Eyes' evolution. Also, note that Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon is significantly easier to Summon than Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon. Blue-Eyes takes too much effort to evolve, whereas Red-Eyes evolves quickly and easily, allowing it to surpass Blue-Eyes.

Because it has a decent attack stat and it being level 8 opens up more uses for it than Red-Eyes at level 7.

evilfusion
I was referring to the idea of "Red-Eyes = potential vs Blue-Eyes = power". I'm also saying Blue-Eyes takes too much effort TO EVOLVE. On its own, it's superior to Red-Eyes in so many ways. Competitive and semi-competitive Decks don't really focus on Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon or Shining Dragon. They just straight-up Blue-Eyes. However, Red-Eyes needs to use an evolved form to be viable, and while easier to evolve than Blue-Eyes, that extra dedication hurts its playability. Ah, I thought you were quoting the Toei movie, where the "Blue-Eyes is power but Red-Eyes is potential" sentiment was a plot point.

Matches
Ah, I see. Well fair enough, I do love Red-Eyes, I just wish it was more practical to use in real life like Blue-Eyes. Also, side note, I've seen 2 or 3 semi-competitive players use Blue-Eyes Ultimate (via Dragon's Mirror).

(I assume you're referring to Nightshroud as the other prominent character?)
evilfusion
Well, if you think about it... Blue-Eyes had Kaiba using it. Kaiba is possibly the most popular original series Duelist. Blue-Eyes also has special status by being the embodiment of the rule of 3000. Almost every anime series since has in some way referenced or paralleled Blue-Eyes or Kaiba. GX: Both referenced with Kaibaman, and paralleled with Zane and Cyber Dragons. Cyber End Dragon is a fusion of 3 of the same monster, has 3 heads, and overwhelming ATK. 5Ds: Jack Atlas was the Kaiba parallel with Red Dragon Archfiend. Not entirely as blatant. Zexal: Kaito. Galaxy-Eyes. Neo Galaxy-Eyes. Most blatant parallel. Red-Eyes had Joey...and in GX, Nightshroud. That series gave us Darkness Dragon and Darkness Metal Dragon. The latter was printed in a ridiculously powerful card. There hasn't been nearly as many references to Red-Eyes because it's overshadowed by the popularity of Blue-Eyes, and the prominence of characters and cards that parallel Blue-Eyes. Matches
That reminds me that I once read somewhere that Blue-Eyes, is the creator Kazuki Takahashi's favorite card and was originally supposed to be used by Yugi as his signature card (however, the idea was dropped at the last second and Blue-Eyes became Kaiba's card, as we all know).
