Guest Imperiused
Type: Monster Type I: Spirit Type II: Pyro Attribute: Fire Level: 4 Attack: 1750 Defence: 1150Card text Cannot be Special Summoned. During the End Phase of the turn this card is Normal Summoned or flipped face-up: Return it to the hand. When a card effect that doesn't target is activated, You can send 1 card from your hand to the Graveyard; negate the activation and, if you do, destroy it. Struck with an idea for Fire, now all that's left is Dark. I had been debating over a creature to represent the Fire attribute for the Prime Material Monsters (Cockatrice, Ifrit, Djiin, Salamander, Scarab, Fire Flies...), but then I came across a site that tied foxes to fire, at which point I slapped myself over the head for not thinking of it before. And naturally I went straight for the nine-tailed fox of Japanese folklore, or kitsune, since it fit the appearance theme of Prime Materials by having extra appendages. So that's the story of how my next Prime Material monster became a Spirit monster. Edit: I'll admit the fox need to be more bronze-golden to fit in with the rest of the Prime Materials, but damn is it hard to find a good image of a kitsune! Trebuchet MS
Let me just tweak the lore slightly. Cannot be Special Summoned. During the End Phase of the turn this card is Normal Summoned or flipped face-up: Return it to the hand. When a card effect that doesn't target is activated: You can send 1 card from your hand to the Graveyard; to negate its the activation, and if you do, destroy it the card. So, not only does it stop the likes of Mirror Force, it can also neutralize the initial activation of Royal Decree, cancel search effects like Mystic Tomato, or even crush ignition effects of already face-up S/Ts like Ultimate Offering. The only thing stopping it from utterly breaking combos is the fact that it's a Spirit.
newhat
By "doesn't target", you are including things like Dark Hole, but you are also including things like Duality, Cards of Consonance, Dragon Ravine, Red Gaget...It's very powerful. I have no idea how well you could control the game with a Spirit. You probably couldn't maintain this and Spiritual Energy Settle Machine at the same time unless you had a field of Des Lacoodas and Messengers of Peace or something. Barring improbable set-ups, it seems like a balanced way to protect your big swings.

The only thing stopping it from utterly breaking combos is the fact that it's a Spirit. Yep. I wanted to hand out a powerful effect to this card, which made the kitsune a match made in heaven, since I could balance it by making it a Spirit monster. Now there are of course ways of getting around this: the Mirror of Yata, for instance, or depending on the ruling, Prime Transmutation as well. But pending specific support cards or loopholes, its pretty annoying that PMF can't be around during your opponent's turn to stop stuff like Dark Hole. By "doesn't target", you are including things like Dark Hole, but you are also including things like Duality, Cards of Consonance, Dragon Ravine, Red Gaget...It's very powerful. Barring improbable set-ups, it seems like a balanced way to protect your big swings. Spiritual Energy Settle Machine would indeed be impractical. Machine would drain your hand and wouldn't allow you to use PMF's eff when you needed to. You could make it a trifecta, though, by adding Alchemist of the Prime Materials to the combo. Then you can run SESM while building up tokens to summon more Prime Material monsters. As a more general utility, without support, I'd definitely agree that giving players some security when attacking would be it's best use.
Guest Imperiused
Really kinda liked this card. Still stuck over what do do with my last Dark Prime Material monster. So, just bumping to see if there are any more thoughts.
